How was your weekend? And the past few weeks? I hope good and happy.
I am so excited to finally be able to share these projects with you- they are the Patchwork Prism Quilt & Sham that I designed for Janome. And they're ready to be downloaded, viewed, flickr'd and all! Visit my Janome page or Janome's Anna Maria page - either way you'll find everything you need to make your own. I loved making this project so very much. I included mostly my own prints + Liberty + some Denyse + Kaffe too.
We even have some print by color stacks in the shop for you if you're so inclined. The sham has gotten quite cozy on my bed.
It is such a lot of work to get things just the way you want them, especially in the format of video, but I really hope you enjoy watching it. Mostly I hope that, together with the pattern pdfs, it makes building this quilt easier and more exciting. All the linkies should be working but of course let me know if something isn't doing what it's suppose to do. I've been in a house full of kids on Spring Break for 10 days so I can handle it. Hit me.
Next, lots of catching up to do with you. xoxo, Anna
So, so pretty...
ReplyDeleteI have an all voile triangle quilt in the works. Probably won't be this pretty.
Hey there Anna,
ReplyDeleteI finished my sham (From The Top Stitch workshop). It's so beautiful!!! My family took a real liking to it and it now resides in the living room. My 16 year old son asked me to make him one in more "boy" colours but the same pillow.
I love that you mix fabric lines for matching color families ~ makes the quilt and sham look amazing!
ReplyDeleteA full house, and these beautiful projects completed, too?
ReplyDeleteYou are a treasure!
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSuch a stunning quilt and sham! Thanks so much for creating so much beauty and being so generous as to share it with us. I have downloaded the patterns and I really enjoyed watching the video, your studio is looking so spacious and warm.

ReplyDeleteAnytime you want to provide an answer to my query in the discussion page for your sewing patterns, I'm all ears. I wrote a comment on your last blog post to let you know my question is there.
Oh, the sham is lovely, lovely, lovely!
ReplyDeleteLoved your video and the projects. I see a pillow sham in my very near future and a quilt soon after.

What type of batting do you recommend? Do you use organic? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteCheryl
i love that patchwork cushion but how do you get it so neat??
ReplyDeletepippaxx
Susan, I have replied to your sewing pattern question at Flickr. Thanks for your patience, Anna
ReplyDeleteCheryl- I tend to always use a bamboo blend batting. I love the weight (medium) of it and it's very easy to sew through either by hand or machine :) For the sham I actually tried a product called FusiBoo which actually temporarily fuses with a steam iron to avoid pinning or basting before you begin sewing. Then the fusing properties wash out! It worked out beautifully. I would recommend trying ti first on a small project. I haven't tried a full size quilt yet!
ReplyDeletePippaxx- I think I am of course suppose to tell you that it's neat because I used a Janome! haha. Seriously though, nothing I make is perfect! But accurate, cutting, piecing and careful machine quilting takes time but so worth the effort :)
love, Anna
I like it how you made those colors match although there are so many of them. Great job.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness! i LOVE it!! i've got to know anna maria.... how do you do it? i have four kids, and they are a lot younger than yours but goodness you have two more! and i never "find time" for sewing anymore. do you just let others things go when your on a project aka the house... or do you have your kids well trained in "helping out"... i'm dying to know!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought an apron with your name on it in a cute little shop in Knoxville, Tennessee. I didn't realize it was yours until I got home and was some reading my favorite blogs. It is a small world!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOUR COLORS!
Colorfully yummy!
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful and I loved watching the video, even though I've never quilted anything in my life.
Can I fess up to being a fan of King Leo? Loved that the pooch made it in the video :)

lisa

ReplyDeleteThe PT boats played a very important role during WWII. In fact, they managed to attack a high number of enemy surface crafts, including destroyers and supply ships.
ReplyDeletewhat a great stash buster!!!! You've just given me an incentive to get rid of too much fabric (if that is really possible....)
ReplyDeleteI was just going to do squares, but triangles, rock and give a better rythm!!!!
thanks!!!
That patchwork is so good! Really lovely, I want to make one now!

I just have to say how much I love your carpet! I want to steal it away to my house. Of course the patchwork is pretty nice, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Anna Maria, for such a beautiful quilt pattern. Absolutely stunning. I have a question about the pattern, which I downloaded. There are no notes indicating the measurements on the templates or in the text. Could you provide that information so we could be certain that the PDF has printed correctly, please? I ask because I have printed some patterns and -- even with a PDF -- the pages printed much smaller than they should have. In one instance, there was an inch grid provided to help the user and, after measuring, everything printed an eighth of an inch smaller than it should have. Technology! Hmpf! I don't want it to prevent me from making the quilt correctly! I appreciate your time and assistance. And thank you again for such a beautiful project. --ldp
ReplyDeleteoh my oh my....the colours on these pages are so uplifting......and i could just look at them forever. thank you for sharing those lovely pictures :)
ReplyDeleteI really admire this, I mean it really looks interesting! Very nice write up. Anyways, its a Great post

ReplyDeleteI got a new stack of Field Study fat quarters for Christmas, and I love them and everything else you create! One of my first projects in this new year is going to be the Patchwork Prism Sham. I'm wondering if you made a pillow form insert to put inside the Patchwork Prism Sham or did you just stuff the pillow? Thank you, Anna!!
ReplyDeleteAs I was falling asleep last night on my king size pillow, I realized that this pattern is for a sham, so it will fit a king size pillow. Duh!? I making this pillow this week. Can't wait!! Thanks for awesome pattern!! xoxox
