Alright already!

eyeopening

I took this just for you. In all my early morning no makeup, no hairbrush, no shower glory. Ahh photobooth, I loves ya. I tried to turn to the side so you could see the Versace Medusa insignia thingy.

Stay classy
, Anna.

Well, hey now! Those are actually nicer in person than by your description (which was fine - I'm not slammin' ya). Just that they really aren't as bad as you might think they are. They're quite smashing! :-D Srsly!

Then again, maybe it's you that make them look good!!!!

  3. Thank you for sharing. Not nearly the ungodly pair I pictured in my mind. In fact, very flattering. Personally, I think they look great...downright "classy".

  4. Well thank you for both comments. I think. hahahaha

  5. You know I didn't want to ask but I am glad someone did. So they're not as bad as I expected but what was going on that Jeff couldn't give you the maybe not that pair advice?

  6. Petra, you know important stuff was going on for him at the time. He was reading a magazine in the optometry office. ahem.

You still look like a super model to me glasses be darned!

  10. Well I must say you look beautiful in the morning. The glasses, well I'm going o be honest here, I think you could get a more attractive pair on you sweet little face. I think they kind of overpower you.

  11. LMAO....I pictured some giant Yves St. Laurent type glasses. Those are actually super cute.

Guys, you know men! Glasses are well...glasses. Have you seen what they give men as choices for unmentionables? It's pretty basic ;)

  12. Aw, bless your little pea-pickin' heart! Not as bad as your description, though!

  14. You are gorgeous. It doesn't matter what the frames look like... if you don't like looking at them, then it's gonna bug you. But. You. Do. Look Gorgeous.

  15. very Nana Mouskouri, who is also a gorgeous greek gal like yourself!

    I love them!!

  16. I'm pretty sure you can pull of any look.

  17. They look great... No worries about looking like a leathery old miami inhabitant. ;)

  18. Those are awesome glasses!
I think you look pretty amazing for someone who has done nothing to be 'camera ready'.

your glasses are really cool, like yourself.

I think they are really classy too. You could use a little alcohol ink (by Rangers, think Tim Holtz) on the metal. You could turn them gold or copper in no time.

  20. i just looked at glasses last night - all the cool ones have something crappy on the side... what's up with that???

  21. I grew up listening to the gorgeous Nana Mouskouri, and your spectacle chic reminds me of her!

Wow! Jodi hit the proverbial nail on the head! Nana Mouskouri fer sher. And hey, she is MUCH loved! Don't knock the Nana! Ha - now I won't be able to see you without thinking Mouskouri. Running to get my NM CDs out now.... If you don't have her, gitcher sweet self some Nana musica and you'll feel all the more Greeky (as if you don't already) in those shades.

Some Nana in Greek for ya:

  23. Ah, they're not that bad! Perhaps not the perfect choice, exactly, but more than passable. :) Not to mention that you could make a paper bag look good!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okay, I will go ahead and divulge that I have heard the Nana Mouskouri, as well as the Ali McGraw thing my whole life. And also Valeri Bertenelli, Sally Field, etc. I think I posted about this a few years ago, but might have left dear Nana off the list :)

  25. THAT'S no makeup?
    Jealous!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. These are adorable, especially on you!
Also, after your story I realized that my glasses have a gold tag on the sides, and I never were gold. I think I still look pretty darn put together, and I'm sure you do too!

  27. This picture reminds me of one of my best friends from high school. You have just jumped back 40 years.

    ReplyDelete
  28. um, well I acutally think they look pretty darn cool...hip, haute couture-ish. I dunno. I like them.

    ReplyDelete
  29. LOL such a funny description of your specs! you make them super cute, you'd be rocking the urban outfitters scene in these babies!
    seriously, though, they are cute!
I admit, there are times when I get to work and look down and wonder if, perhaps, I shouldn't have asked my husband for fashion advice! He almost always says things look good w/o looking up from his coffee and reading!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ugh, you are too cute for words! And those glasses are going to give you fodder for conversation for years to come! Seriously, they may not feel like you but you're rocking the look!

Wow. You and Vera Wang. I don't let anybody that close to me with a camera before an hour's worth of shower, makeup and blow-dry. You look great! The specs are mysterious . . . .

  32. I'm glad your eyes are feeling better, but now you have to help me with mine. Is the couch I see in the market booth photo made from your Loulouthi flannel? What about that handbag? I HAVE to make a handbag like that for myself and I'm having trouble figuring out if you have a super secret stash of velveteen or what. Thanks for all the lovely inspiration!

  33. Anna~I wish that I looked as lovely as you do in the early am. I really like the glasses~rather sophisticated on you! So fun & very human what you shared today ~ thanks!!

  38. The glasses are fine. Your husband is a lucky man to have such a talented and beautiful wife!

    ReplyDelete
  39. The story was much funnier with me imagining you in funny granny glasses. These glasses are actually nice! I think perhaps you need to buy more silver. :D

I can't form an opinion on the glasses because I can't get over the fact that you look so. amazingly. YOUNG. Seriously, did you bribe your daughter into posing as you? Whatever you're doing, keep at it!

  44. When I saw the picture, I thought that's your daughter, visiting home and the post is going to be about her. Unbelievable! Great look!

I just received some of your velveteen in the mail and wanted to write "Thank you", as though you my friend. Internet is a strange thing - you up there a DESIGNER, and I am down here a consumer, but internet makes it so accessible. Anyway, THANK YOU for your beautiful work!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well .... okay ... you really can't miss them but it's not as bad as I thought it would be (LOL)

  46. Honestly, I don't mind them. I think they make you look a bit 'Demi Moore' actually (and Nana too). I wouldn't mind looking a bit more like either of them!

I think you look like a very young Nana Mouskouri. I too hate that Versace insignia but these look cool. If you really can't bear it paint over it ;)

  55. I think they're pretty fly for days when you want to make a statement. (what statement...I'll let you decide.)

Anyway, I was recently introduced to this site where they have an eyeglasses program similar to the Toms shoe program. The glasses are hip and high-quality, yet every pair is $95 -- which, given your $400 adventure, might be right up your alley. And the best part? Another pair goes to a person in need. Done and done.

The hair may bear a resemblance to the other ladies you mentioned, but the glasses make you pure Nana. Didn't see Mouskouri 'til you donned the shades.

  64. Oh my gosh. So laughing right now, I picked up my new glasses yesterday. Butterflies engraved on the side. How did I in my blindness pick these? And my husband thought they were cute and "looked like me". Yours are great. I'll trade your bling for my butterflies! :0)

  69. From what I can tell, the way to customize the appearance is to add the class prefix ".mobile " to additional style statements in order to customize the appearance in mobile browsers. Not had time to try it much yet, but will do my best over the holidays so I can write up a post.
