Today's Challenges

todays.challenges

Roman challenge: occupying oneself while most siblings are off to school.
Mom challenge: see above.

Roman challenge: balancing a yardstick in the dump bed of a toy truck.
Mom challenge: resisting talking about things like physics with a 2 year old.

Roman challenge: wearing pants.
Mom challenge: finding pants. Roman's pants that is. I found mine.

Roman challenge: finding the nesting cube that fits head the best.
Mom challenge: deciding which family member to send the picture to first (subject line of "blockhead", natch).

Roman challenge: deciding on exact Anna Maria sticker placement for maximum awesomeness.
Mom challenge: trying not to sing at the top of my lungs with Dolly to "I will always love you". (Singing, in general, is a challenge for me.)

over and out, anna & roman
(And from the looks of the photo I would have to add that vacuuming is a challenge.)

  1. Ok...that is too cute!! He even put a sticker on his leg *giggle*. LOL I love it!!!

  2. Always sing at the top of your lungs when singing along with Dolly... pretty sure it makes all other challenges resolve themselves painlessly, or at least with little effort.

  3. Singing is a challenge for me too. Actually, more of a challenge for the people that have to listen to it!

Great perspective from mother and son. haha. vacuuming is always a challenge to keep up with in my house, and I don't even have kids!

  5. That is hysterical. Seriously -the stickers are it.
    And Dolly is the best.
And I need to vacuum my floor sooooo so so bad....

So cute - those days go by so fast and then they're 11 like mine... sniffle.

  8. Good to know my children are not the only ones who like to repurpose creative tools. My 10 mo old gets into hysterics by pulling fabric pieces off my quilt wall. She and Roman would have a blast! Keep enjoying mommy-hood AMH and sing Loudly!

  9. My youngest is about the same age as Roman and we often have the same pants challenge :). HE IS SO ADORABLE!!!

Aw the wee man is all grown up. I love your blog, website and fabrics. Living in Scotland I find it hard to find the fabrics I really want so where most people have a savings pot, I have an Anna Maria Horner pot and when I have saved enough I am placing an order for a nice, glorious, fat bundle of bursts of colour. Can't wait.

  12. He is such a cutie, AM. I understand where you are coming from about entertaining a little one, who happens to be impossibly curious, while trying to accomplish other things. Even the little things take forever when you have to say things like, "Please don't stick your finger under the needle on Mommy's sewing machine. I'll let you help me in a minute." That never seems to convince Layla... Anyway, Roman is a cutie for sure. I know I don't have to tell you this, but enjoy that little guy. He'll be a handsome man before long.

  13. Hey, he's got a shirt on with the diaper. Forget pants, mine will mostly ONLY wear a diaper/underwear! No matter what the temp!

  14. So much to love in one little photo.

P.S. Thank you for blogging instead of vacuuming. Time well spent!

  15. Too Cute!
I think he knows exactly what he wants to do.
The vacumming will always wait, better to document so you do not forget these prescious days, thanks for sharing.

So what happened after this because I know it wasn't a nap. I know his kind...en-er-gy! I'll bet he needed to refuel and the two of you had a milk dumptruck, cheerio time. ;) and the vacumming...it can wait.

  19. Life with a 2 year old son is never dull is it! I always wonder what state I am going to find my son/house in after he was worked his magic! Bless his little heart. Jacinta

  21. But certainly a happy, busy guy! And I don't see him covering his ears Mama!

  22. Haha :)

I especially like the singing comment. It reminds me of my sister. She doesn't sing very well but really enjoys it so she's always very happy to go to a church with a very loud organ. :)

  27. it's a beautiful gig, miss anna. i can't believe how big roman is now! it seems like just yesterday he was a teeny lil fella!

  28. Love that 'hat' on Roman. Cute picture.

  29. Reminds me so much of my three year old daughter, so absorbed in what they are doing that they have no time at all for social presentation...I envy them so much! :) x

  30. Adorable! the cutest little legs you just want to squeeze them! Totally agree with singing to Dolly. Right now Dolly, Linda and Emmylou singing To Know Him is To Love Him is buzzing me round the house... also no vacuuming as you can't hear the music.

    ReplyDelete
  31. *Love*. Reminds me of my boy. He won't wear pants either, but loves anything that resembles a hat (except hats).

PS - I also want to know if you have Pinterest. :)

Ahahaha! You are so funny! Maximum awesomeness achieved!

  33. You can vacuum in a few years... what a cutie. By the way I am glad your school has started. I salute that because here in Michigan it is law that public schools wait till after labor day, for tourism. The private schools star earlier.
    I love your blog.

  34. So sweet! Aren't little kids awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Some fairly sweet challenges you had there....love your perspective on it all.

  36. That's a smart looking hat! I never look this good when I wear cubes on my head.

  38. I say to Roman: enjoy these 'pants optional' years while you can! ;)

And vaccuumming...that's for the birds. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  39. You had me laughing out loud in this post! Too cute and funny! Thanks for the fun!

    ReplyDelete
  40. If that doesn't say why having kids is the most awesome thing ever, I don't know what does. LOVE that photo! It speaks volumes about Roman's mind. : )

Forget the vacuuming....a clean house is the sign of a mis-spent life...besides, children shouldn't live in a clean house (mostly clean will do)

HELP!! I LOVE that fabric in the quilt in this photo, which fabric and color is it? Would love to make a quilt or something like this one, is there another picture of this somewhere?

I just LOVE that yellow quilt!! What is that fabric?

  44. Gotta love the imagination of a child. Just adorable.

And one does not need pants when you are just hanging out at home.
