I have good and bad and worse and makedo to report.
GOOD: I just spent the most wonderful 4 days in NYC with my two little girls, my mama, my MIL and my big college student girl for our Spring Breaks, which luckily coincided.
BAD: On the very first cab ride from LaGuardia to our hotel in Brooklyn, I left my camera bag (as in THE camera) in the cab.
WORSE: I did not get a receipt from the driver, and therefore have been placed in camera-loss purgatory as far as the city of NYC and the cab service is concerned with regards to ever finding it. (And yes I have taken every other measure possible to find it, thanks for asking....but maybe there's one I still haven't thought of, like looking on Craigslist to possibly buy it back. ha.)
MAKEDO: I took lots of pictures of our trip with my phone. This is not one of them. But this hug within a hug photo that I found on my desktop is making me feel like its all going to be just fine.
The NYC-vacation-by-phone (a very expensive vacation, considering pending camera replacement) is coming up tomorrow.
xoxo, Anna, who missed you and sends you a hug if ya need it.
Oooh - that sucks. That's the only way of putting it. So sorry. :(
ReplyDeleteWorst feeling to lose something and you wish you could just go back and do that 1 minute over... so sorry... but at least something replaceable, right?
ReplyDeleteThat is awful! I have lost the same camera twice (the last time I lost it, it was missing for 8 months) so I am hoping that by some miracle it tuns up for you as mine did (twice).
ReplyDeleteUUggghhhh!!! I hate that feeling of losing something that is important. Lost my travel journal, never found it, but at least I have my memories. Thanks for the hug... definitely needed it today (3 kids 3 and under).
ReplyDeleteOh dear... I think the )))hug((( goes to you. I am so sorry for your loss, and especially for that nagging anxiety and frustration that comes with losing personal articles.
ReplyDeleteHey, you were in the big city with lots of dear ones, and none of them were lost, so I think over all you managed to make it a successful venture. I will say a hopeful prayer for a big city miracle-camera reunion.
ooohhhh no im so sorry what a pain, i hope you finds it but it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack i know. We all need hugs once a while sending you one back (((hug)) hope you have a better week, dee x
ReplyDelete*hugs* to you too! I have only recently had time to go back and start appreciating photography again and would be devastated if anything happened to my camera. I really hope it turns up and am sending loads of positive vibes your way. Rachael Xx
ReplyDeleteNatalie- oh so true- I've said to myself many times, its just a thing, its just a thing! And in the current timeframe of so much suffering around our globe, it seems entirely selfish to complain-, perhaps just an explanation of the forthcoming cruddy picture quality here on the blog for a while!
ReplyDeletexo,Anna
Oh so sorry for you! My camera is an essential part of me. Hope you find it! I can happen. I once left my wallet in a car service town-car in Brooklyn and, it was found and returned with everything it. Fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna Maria, my name's Arianna from Italy: I am a your follower!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!!!
If you want, my blog is:
www.ilfilodiarianna-ari@blogspot.com
Tanti saluti dall'Italia.
Un bacio.
Arianna
I have a friend that lives in Amsterdam who lost her wallet one day. Everything was in it, money ID, cards you get the idea. It got returned to her by a homeless man with every single penny still inside! I hope your camera will come back to you soon!
ReplyDeleteMs. Anna Maria, How do you always know what we need? The hug within a hug is perfect for today in many ways. Thank you for always being you and always coming up with the perfect thing to share.
ReplyDeleteGlad that despite the camera incident they were a wonderful four days! You deserve a little break every now and again! :)
((Hugs!!))
A great big hug for you! I'm glad you were able to experience all that girl time together. Even if the camera did get lost in the whirlwind.
ReplyDeleteOH NO!
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same thing after Bill and I got engaged in San Diego. We paid cash for the cab and all I could remember is that it was yellow.
Even though it was over a year ago, I still obsessively check this website just in case: http://www.ifoundyourcamera.net/
So sorry about the camera. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteHugs all around...
I sounds like you are the one who needs the hug!! My mom did the same thing in Chicago and the driver actually came back to the restaurant where he had dropped us to return her camera to her. We were sitting there eating and my dad was like, "uh, what is the cab driver doing over there waving at us?"
ReplyDeleteBy the way, who told Miss Eleni she could go and get all-grown-up looking on us? They grow so fast, it hurts this mama's heart. But thank God you didn't lose HER in NYC.
ReplyDeleteLosing your camera? Oh that is just terrible - sending you a hug!
ReplyDeleteSO sorry to read about your camera, how terrible! I hope it makes it's way back to you.
ReplyDeleteLoving the embroidered flower above -- gorgeous!
I'm so sorry about your camera! I hope you get it back. :( But there's nothing like a picture of your sweet little girl to cheer you up. And wonderful job on that flower, by the way! hugs back to you!
ReplyDelete...nobody dies, Anna. Perhaps he (she) that has it will be ridden w/ guilt and return it!
ReplyDeleteCan you give me some info on the beautiful flower above? I do a bit of embroidery, but that looks quite "chunky" Is it what I know to be crewel? And what supplies would I need?
Thank you for always inspiring me and I did need a hug today. They're all darling!
Man that stinks! That would be so easy to do, especially when loaded down and hurrying up on your way into the city. I'm really sorry to hear you've lost your camera, but glad you got to spend a good time with family!
ReplyDeleteOh so sorry about the camera. That is the absolute worst feeling. Glad the trip was lovely, though. What fun to have a girls' week together. Your new header on the blog is GORGEOUS!!! Tutorial coming up? Pretty please??? Because I know you're not busy with 6 kids, a business, and a remodel going on already.
ReplyDeleteBY CHANCE I WILL ASK my husband's friend he owns a NYC taxi co. I could ask if they have found anything. I have faith because it has happened to my on the LIRR and it has shown up, God willing by some work of angels that still hover over the BIG APPLE!
ReplyDeleteCarrie- it was a red camera backpack and was full of chargers as well!! you're kind :), xo, Anna
ReplyDeleteooooh mama. miss you. i forgot to give you my camera what the heck. looking forward to the next post.
ReplyDeleteI know babes- but Pierrette, said that she can keep hers here at the studio for a bit too :)
ReplyDeletemisses yous toos!!!! xooxoxmama
Hope your camera finds its way back to you. I lost my camera once, at Parliment House in Canberra, Australia. But thankfully some kind soul handed it in. The camera was posted back within two days of me calling. Miracles do happen! Cute hug photo. 4 days in New York sounds like a fun time indeed. Jacinta
ReplyDeleteSorry about your camera but your real treasure is that photo. Your daughter is just lovely; you are lucky to have one another!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry - that must be a huge disappointment. I hope you can feel confident in honesty.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I feel your pain!
ReplyDeleteWe did the same on a family holiday to Cairns (Northern QLD in Australia). Our Daughter left our brand new very pricey digital camera hanging on the cab seat - we realised as he was driving away rang the company who rang the driver and apparently it wasn't in the cab!!!! It put us all in a very bad mood for our holiday.
Hope you didn't have too many unloaded pics on it.
Xx
It could happen to any of us.
ReplyDeleteI still hope you will get your camera returned.
Michigan Love.
Oh, so sorry!
ReplyDeleteCondolences for your lost loved camera. *pauses in silence*
ReplyDeleteI think it's precious how you started this post by telling us how great your trip was (even though you lost your camera). That says something awesome about you. :)
My Blog
Sorry to hear about your camera- it still sounds like you had a wonderful time anyway.
ReplyDeleteI always smile when I see your name- My proper name is Anna Marie and my grandmother often called me Anna Maria or Anna Mia- I don't see the two together very much and I go by Anna as my married name is a mouthful with it. I have always loved my name.
I am sending you a hug from another Anna.
Warmest regards,
Anna
Anna Maria it is an honor to help YOU! The owner said.....Only camera turned in lately is an old 35mm automatic. If it wasn't in the trunk your at mercy of next passenger to pass it forward. Your friend can do 2 things to maximize effort. First create flyer with details of ride and camera then to NYC.GOV TLC locate all agent/garages and send mass fax/email. Also call 311 give trip details and thru GPS records they may be able to I'd medallion # if it was a yellow cab. Happy hunting.
ReplyDeleteI hope this helps......Peace
Oooo, I can only imagine! So sorry for your loss... May your next camera be even more photographically stupendous!
ReplyDeleteoh no! that is a big fat bummer! glad you had a nice spring break, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, my word. Sounds like something I would do. I'm so sorry! Maybe the finder will have an attack of conscience.
ReplyDeleteSince you're giving us a hug...did you make the bear? It is so cute. Any chance of a pattern? The little girl is really cute too, but, I figured if you were so upset about losing your camera there is no way you'd give her away! :)
ReplyDeleteHope the camera turns up. Stranger things have happened.
The only time I have ever ridden in a cab I lost my camera. (in D.C.) I never got it or the pictures on it back. I guess the only good news about your loss is that it happened at the beginning of the trip and not the end after you took a bunch of awesome pictures. It's just the pits, isn't it? aimee
ReplyDeleteThat is the crummiest thing to happen ever! I hope you had insurance for THE camera and it gets replaced soon :)
ReplyDeleteaww dear, that is a shame. i really hope it turns up for you. Similar thing happened to my partner and I when we went to Japan. We both had cameras - he took all pictures of me with his, and I took photos of him with mine. He lost his camera just before we were to catch the plane back, so there is hardly any footage of me in Japan :( Oh well, we'll just have to go back. *(* HUGS *)*
ReplyDeleteKeep the faith, AM. You never know what nice person will turn it in! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
ReplyDeleteew, that really stinks about the camera. ugh, my stomach feels weazy for you.
ReplyDeleteYour hug within a hug picture is wonderful!!!!
I realize it's just a thing, but a very expensive thing. If you are like me there might possibly be images that have yet to be uploaded on that thing. It makes me sick thinking about losing my beloved camera, even if it's just a thing. It's a tool to behold the moments past, precious moments past. Hope you find it or get a replacer soon. HUGS
ReplyDeleteUggggggg, that is horrible. :( I would be sick to my stomach.
ReplyDeletePoo on the camera situation! Yay for a fun girlie weekend in NYC!! My little sissy is in your town right now and I'm so jealous!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteRaven
oh i am so sorry to hear about your camera! I hope you enjoyed NYC regardless of it's start.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such great blog!Keep on sharing, 2945abc45 0401
