Eleni is the official only one at home this school year. Even sharing a room with Isabela, she can't manage an eye open early enough to see the other kids load onto the bus. So every morning she wakes up and asks where everyone is. She sorta doesn't seem that disappointed. She hasn't even asked why she's not going to preschool like she did in the spring. I surprised even myself with that decision as busy as my days are. Something in me just wanted her here. Maybe because shes the last. Is she the last? God only knows. I get that question a lot. A whole lot. More than I did when I had 2 or 3. Now that we're up to 5 people assume we're already crazy, so they wanna know just how crazy maybe. Which is fine. Truth is I don't know how to answer it. I don't know what our number is. So I usually say "oh, I think 5 is a good number" which is not a lie. But its not the whole story maybe, just an answer.
My cup runneth over. I can hardly stand it. In the best way. xoAM
Oh for preciousness! I can totally relate! Same thing around this house! In fact, littlest one is cuddling on my lap as I type. She's like a little puppy dog trotting around my heels every morning!
ReplyDeleteSuch sweetness! We have just a couple more weeks here until my little monkey heads off to preschool. I am enjoying every minute of him being home knowing how fast time is flying....
ReplyDeleteWith genes like yours and your husband's, why quit now? Your kids are all so adorable, and I'm sure, just as well-behaved as they are darling (Juliana should be modeling!) I hope they're all wearing matis. Ptoo-ptoo!

She is a cutie! I can't blame you for wanting to keep her home :)
ReplyDeleteWish I'd had more time with my last one (youngest of four). I had to go back to work when she was seven months old to help support us since jobs for the hubby were scarce at the time. She turns 21 this month and I'll never have those sweet days again. She's my most different one too. LOL--seems like there's one in every family!
ReplyDeleteMy 2.5-year-old daughter has asked each day where her brothers are since school started. And, like yours, doesn't seem to really mind that she's the only one here. I know she is my last, so I'm trying to enjoy and hang on to every minute. It just goes by too quickly.
ReplyDeleteI cant blame you either, shes just too adorable!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. More is good. 5 is good. God is good!
ReplyDeleteOh so sweet. She gets some special time with momma. Oh I know what you mean....what I have is wonderful, but I'm not ready to declare the last....
ReplyDelete...children are God's blessing...and you certainly are blessed. My 3 boys are all in school 11, 10, and 8. I would certainly say "yes" to God, as Mary did, if I were to be blessed with another child. Thank you Mary for the opportunity to be a mother and thank you Anna for your gifts you give to so many. As we celebrate today "The Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
ReplyDeletepeace, deb
what a cutie! my daughter is going to preschool this year (she's 4) and it is going to be strange to have a quiet house two mornings of the week. enjoy her! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have an odd view of what is considered a "large" family in America... the number is always based on convenience. My family is too small, not by choice, and we realize it more and more as the children mature. You learn so much more about relationships in a large family... and compromise... and become so much less self-centered. And so many people love you!! My best friend has five and is 40 now...but her belief is that each child is a blessing (really, more than just that but I can't think of a word to describe it)... what better way to spend your life than to help another grow and learn and mature into "someone"?! There's just not enough bigger families out there to support each other these days. So enjoy...and I can completely understand keeping Eleni home a little longer!!
ReplyDeletelove thinking about that sleepy-eyed sweetie contentedly wondering where they all went. how wonderful to have her to yourself, just for a bit longer.
ReplyDeleteWho really ever knows for sure what their number is. I'm expecting my 1st in 10 weeks and am more than anxious, but sad to hear how fast they grow up! Kuddos to you!
ReplyDeleteYes, I like you wonder what the magic number is, but I also wonder why people like to ask about it. I am being asked constantly about more...and when...and how many...
ReplyDeleteI'm trying just to take one day at a time and enjoy them while I can.
She is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI once heard someone (who also had a large family) that you're already spending twenty four hours a day on one baby, so how much difference is it going to make with more. That was certainly true for us.
ReplyDeleteI feel silly about that seven children comment a few entrys back now...sorry bout that. Homeschooling. Fun!!
ReplyDeletehow did you do all of this?my blog is boring!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you for your willingness to accept whatever comes what may.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel... I have two... and people are asking me if there will be more, and I just don't know. I certainly would love more, but I can't make that decision alone... my husband has to cooperate too, and he's stuck on the number 2 right now. Our little one is only 15 months, so I think it's too early to decide for sure. Em
