I keep having dreams that I am being put on bed rest. As someone who has never been put on bed rest, I most likely have an unrealistic (stupid) idea of that being something to actually hope for. Truth be told I would only enjoy that if I put myself there, and not if I were told to do it. Like anything, of course. I think I must be having strong contractions in my sleep that make me have these dreams. I do that though, have lots of contractions by now, most light, but every now and then a doozy with pressure. Because I have always done this, I fluctuate between ignoring them, and freaking out over them.
I knit these very, very small pants. You have my left hand there as perspective on how small these are: so small. I am a little in love with them. I happen to actually fall in love with everything I am knitting right now. I guess because all of it is small and cute, and does not take a very long time. I joined Ravelry, which is where I found the pattern for these tiny pants. I actually joined quite a while ago, but I just started spending more time on there since I began knitting, and I already suck at being on Ravelry. I haven't done anything with it but search and download stuff, which is awesome, and I do have intent to get myself all together over there, and post projects, pics, notes, etc. It seems like such a very good idea, bc I simply never make note of yarn when I start something, end up forgetting, then can't answer questions to anyone, including me even, so I can't even figure out how to wash it- ha! Not cool. Will do it.
My sister is coming today! Today, like in a few hours! I am so excited. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, I cleaned up the house (sorta), and I think this might even call for a shower and a trip to the grocery store. A few days ago I was checking out at my local grocery store and the very youngish girl helping me with that was like "wow, is this your first baby?" (Nicolas was standing right next to me, so um, duh, no, not my first baby). And I was like "oh, no not by a long shot (smile-what's the next question)". She was then like "wow, so when are you due?". I was like "I have two months to go still (here it comes)". She was then, with big eyes and staring at my belly, like "OH, Wow, you seem Really ready". I just smiled and said "Mm. Yeah. (you seem Really Not ready is what I wanted to say, bc I am getting kinda cranky)."
So yeah. Hope you had a beautiful weekend.
xoxoAnna
You'll be ready, and here's a a wish for you:
ReplyDeleteHealthy, easy, breezy, simple and joyful
for you and baby. Knit on, Anna Maria!
Knit on!
I am truly inspired by this online journal! Extremely clear clarification of issues is given and it is open to every living soul. I have perused your post, truly you have given this extraordinary informative data about it. Agen Sbobet
Deletemy favorite pregnant belly exchange was with a Chinese woman when I had 2 months or so to go:
ReplyDelete"You ready any day?"
"No, a couple months."
"Oh... twins then?"
"No, just one."
"Well I think baby's Daddy is a very big man." :)
I'm just very short and short-torsoed, so my bellies are impressive.
And cute pants!
I love that! Ha. Good excuse! My husband us 6'5"
DeleteYay! Ravelry is the best, especially for checking out how yarn looks on different types of projects. I haven't been on it in a while because I find I can EASILY waste an hour on there looking at all the pretty projects and the luscious yarn. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Knitting pants for my babies.. and Ravlery too! My youngest DS had many knit items I would work on while he was in NICU. At the time there was a wonderful yarn shop just down from the Hospital. I used cloth diapers too and I was pretty much obsessed with both items as it was at the time the only thing I could control.
ReplyDeleteYour little pants are very appealing! In themselves but also to think of the little tiny one to go in them!
ReplyDeleteI try to be conscientious about Ravelry but wow, it's hard! Knitting has a lot of aspects to it, all immediately forgettable. And one's knitting bag instantaneously gets trashed with little yarn bands. Even when I am sure I will remember important things, like needle size, no.
I oh so LOVE pregnancy comments from random strangers! "Wow you are really huge!" Thanks? I was large to start? How does one answer that. Or, after having two boys...."aren't you just praying for a girl????" Uhm, sure because these two darlings standing here listening to that are just trash?
ReplyDeleteLOVE random stranger comments. Only bested by Random Stranger Belly Rubs! What? My husband wasn't allowed to touch it some days and he put it there!!!!!
Anna you're going to LOVE Ravelry. I spend all my time there -- added you as a friend!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Well at least you have an excuse for being cranky and I am sure you are not, unless provoked by let's just say well meaning people! Also, I love Ravelry, but don't spend as much time there since I started blogging etc... You will love it though!
ReplyDeleteLove the wee little ones pants!
What sweet little pants! I am so excited for your family. Aren't new babies just heaven on earth.:)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. When others complain about being BORED on bedrest -- I think, why? You can watch TV, knit, read books, browse the internet.. and people have to wait on you hand and foot.
ReplyDeleteAdorable woolies. I love the pink. :)
My 'best' comment was when a NURSE asked me when I was due two weeks AFTER my twins were born!! Those pants are the sweetest thing. I loved knitting for my last little girl. Now she is dressing her dollies in the handknits!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, bed rest isn't nearly as fun as it sounds!
ReplyDeleteLOL, the under your breath comment is so true!! Your joy is just contagious...most days...lol!
ReplyDeletebless you! I have an "irritable uterus" and contracted all the time. I was put on bed rest with my twins and always had mine early, but of course, I only had 2 pregnancies and not 7! I wish you the best and I'm sure you will listen to your body and know when you really need to take it easy. I can't wait to hear her name and see pics. You have such beautiful children with equally beautiful names! Beth in Knoxville, and a fellow UT alum!
ReplyDeleteTrust me, bed rest is a fantasy concocted by tired women. I called the 9 weeks of it I had House Arrest. I had no other kids yet and didn't particularly like my job, but it still sucked. One can only do so much reading, crosswords, and even crafty things before going completely insane. I even started playing video games with my husband and fantasizing about running away from my house screaming, pretending it was on fire so I wouldn't look completely crazy! Good times. But I did learn the pleasure of being allowed up to shower once a day and strawberry popsicles on the front porch when the sun went down.
ReplyDeleteRest well.
Oh boy, I was put on bed rest for 6 weeks with my 2nd baby, I thought I was going to love it.. seriously, someone telling me to sit on my tush for 6 weeks? Um, ok! I never sit down... so, the 6 weeks was torture! I would sneak to the kitchen to try to make lunch, dinner, etc., only to be sent back...not fun...
ReplyDeleteBut, that shouldn't stop you from getting yourself some needed r&r!
And, I agree with you on the cranky part with the grocery clerk. Hearing the words "You look _____ "(fill in the blank) when you are pregnant just isn't fun, regardless of how that sentence ends! ;)
I understand wishing for a bit of bed rest and I'm not even pregnant!
ReplyDeleteWith two HUGE baby boys I heard all of the comments. This too shall pass. I love the knit pants, and Ravelry.(swoon) knitting a baby blanket while catching up on blog reading by Jared "Brooklyn Tweed". Did I tell you how much I love Ravelry?
ReplyDeleteI think I remember you mentioning once that you have fast deliveries, eh? See, you just get a head start on labor that way :) I hope you can avoid bedrest, but squeeze in some good rest until then!
ReplyDeleteMy baby is 6 months, and I just got asked by some drunk stranger last Saturday if I was "expecting." Thanks, buddy. Uh... :) Kali dynamis!
Having been house and bedbound for two years I can assure you there is very little worse especially as one can seldom sit in bed and knit, but I completely get the romantic idea of it as I used to share that vision. How wrong I was! As for the pants they are adorable and it sounds like they will soon be out to good use. Like you I joined ravelry several months ago and never really used it but only last week the bugs bitten and I've made a resolve to enter my crochet info as I go along. Why do people always comment on the size of your belly when your pregnant hey?
ReplyDeleteLol, we are in the same boat. I also have two months to go and get the question of whether the baby is #1. Ha! Try #4, even that number leaves people speechless. Hope you are able to get some sleep and try not to worry. :-)
ReplyDeletei soooo feel your pain. I'm due May 15 and we live in Seattle, land of dogs and small families. People ask me all the time if this is my first and when I say it's my 4th, they aren't quite sure whether they should laugh at my joke or judge me for having 4 kids.
ReplyDeleteLove your grocery store story. As we would say in the UK: "ah... (or possibly agh!) the yoof of today!"
ReplyDeleteOne week overdue and a couple of days away from being labor-induced, I'm hauling lumber out of a Home Depot on a cart. My friend Brenda was in the store that day and hollered to me over the cash registers "What are you doing - trying to induce labor?" I hollered back "Absolutely!" I got a standing O from the customers and the cashiers. And checked into the hospital on schedule anyway. They come when they come.
ReplyDeleteBless your sweet heart. I'm short and carry HUGE. As in I start making strangers visibly nervous before I'm six months in. People just never seem to know what to say. I'd love to tell you that I was graceful and gracious about some of the more birdbrained comments. In reality, I perfected this fabulous "down home" smile, and replied sweetly and loudly with "Nope! I'm just really FAT!" Works a treat. It's also remarkably cathartic.
ReplyDeleteBlessings for you and all your beautiful babies.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets evil in late pregnancy :-) Love the pants!! Beautiful color...
ReplyDeleteMaybe that youngish girl in the grocery store thought Nicolas was the baby's father.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable those tiny pants are. You always have so much going on - yet you always seem to do it all with so much grace. First baby. haha
ReplyDeleteWith my last baby, I had someone tell me when I was 7 months pregnant, "Wow, if you're this big now, by the time she gets here, you're going to be a MONSTER!" Made me feel just lovely...:)
ReplyDeleteAaaarrghhh ... Nosy strangers! Bless them. Isn't it amazing how insensitive they can be? Hang in there, lovely lady, and don't leave home without your armour on! ~ Hannah
ReplyDeleteIt goes both ways. I carry small, like really small. Last time I went to deliver the nurses thought I was about four and a half months are were pleasantly surprised when I told them it wasn't going to be a preemie delivery. So here's to looking clearly pregnant instead of a little chubby/fat.
ReplyDeleteYou're having another baby!!!!! YAY!!! (It's been awhile since I checked in on your lovely blog). This just totally made my day. I want a big family, so stalking yours keeps my head in the game when I second guess my decision. ;) This story is hilarious...and also not. Strangers...sheesh.
ReplyDeleteOh those little pants are gorgeous. One day that girl in the store will totally understand... Hope you get some better sleep soon.
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteSince you are getting cranky as the pregnancy proceeds, I really hope I'm not stepping on your toes with this request... I would love to read a blog post about what it's like to have many children, what your (and your husbands of course) thoughts were as you were planning/creating your family. Did you always know you wanted many children? Have you ever had any negative comments? Was there ever a point where you thought you were done? Do you ever worry that you're spreading yourself too thin? I live in Sweden, the land of two-children households (I currently only have one) but with age on my side I'm looking for inspiration to do what's right for me and give my little Julius the gift of many siblings. I have a feeling you could be that inspiration.
I worked at a large oil company during my first pregnancy. I had ill-controlled asthma and suffered from severe edema. But I was still healthy and didn't require bedrest so I went to work every day. One day, about 7 months in, one of the VP's told me they'd need to wheel me in with a wheelbarrow pretty soon. People can be thoughtless. Thankfully, I get very dumb during my pregnancies so most of the comments didn't hurt my feelings because they didn't register as hurtful. Now, three babies later, reflecting upon that experience still hurts. But at least I have three beautiful children and no nasty VP to deal with! :o)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your few weeks and hope you have a healthy and uneventful delivery. <3
