Gulp.

before
after

I held her off for a full seven months, but recently I started agreeing with her. It was time for a cut. I still cringed with every snip I made. I do know now that, yes, she can look even more bubbly. But now somehow she looks clever too. Which she is. So I guess its the right cut. Sigh. Gulp. Sniff.

  4. She looks adorable! I have always loved a short bob on little girls!

  5. Darling change. I always cut my girls hair, too. When they got to be teenagers, it became more of a challenge, it was the 80's, after all, but I loved doing it.

  6. absolutely perfect! love it! :)

  7. It looks adorable! I don't have any daughters, but I imagine it must be hard to cut their hair short. Sometimes I don't even want to cut my sons' hair short, but then they end up looking like daughters!

  19. I just love sweet little bobs on little girls. She looks adorable...and bubbly & clever too. :)
I'd love to do a short cut on my daughter sometime, but my husband is a big fan of the long hair. He gets sad when I just trim it an inch or two.

  20. Anna,

She looks very cute. But yes, I would have gulped too. It's a HUGE change. I'm sure she is loving the feeling of warm spring breezes on her neck now though. :o)

  26. Wow!! She Looks great!! I just did the same thing, in anticipation of my 50th birthday, cu off my 9 inch braid, liberating!

    ReplyDelete
  27. She is BEAUTIFUL there is no doubt! She looks older and her face looks thinner WOW good job. Did you have 10 inches and save it for locks of love?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wow, you can cut hair, too? You're amazing. She is, too. It's a very bobbity-bob. Love it!

  34. Well she looks beautiful and (something moms don't like to see) more like a young lady instead of a little girl. I'm sure her head feels way lighter too. :)

  35. We cut my oldest daughters hair yesterday, to tell the truth it makes me like her better, she was getting a little too sassy with that long hair and all her rules for it i.e. no combing, no putting it up, no touching it, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh, goodness; love the haircut!
    Nani

  37. i'm a big fan of long hair myself but that bob on her is so flattering! too cute :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. she looks like a clever little pixie!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is the cutest little haircut ever! Her personality just shines through. I can't believe you know how to cut hair too?! Is there anything you don't do, please share something you don't do well. It will help my self-esteem tremendously! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. it suits her, great job!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh how it hurts to let go of that long, long hair...

But... When the love of the hair and the curls kept a mum (Not me!) from having her sons hair cut until he was nearly 3 years old - and he looked so much like a little girl at that age - I honestly thought the love went a little too far ;)

Your girl does look clever - and I guess she is very, very happy to finally have the hair she wanted for seven months ;)

  46. Sooo cute!

My daughter has been asking for the same haircut and I have totally procrastinated parting with her thick, blonde curls.

    You are a BRAVE woman!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Cute as a button! My daughter just did the same thing, only 26. Gives them a light, perky look!

    ReplyDelete
  52. She looks great! I remember my daughter wanted to cut her hair when se was 5, and my mom did it without my knowledge.-)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Adorable! She's got it goin' on, Mama!
    hugs, CHeryl

    ReplyDelete
  54. and perhaps the dimple shows up better now! too cute! don't they kind of mature in an odd way to catch up with the new "do"?

and i bet it's a heck of a lot easier to brush!

    ReplyDelete
  55. She looks adorable - and the good thing about hair, it will grow back in no time at all.

    ReplyDelete
  56. She looks younger with her hair cut. She's adorable.

i was thinkint he same thing as Sara @ the Football Wife...her haircut reminded me of Kit Kittridge from the American Girl series. Did you donate her hair? ;)

  60. Boy I can so agree with this thought. My 8 yo recently cut 10 inches from her hair and donated to locks of love. One one hand I was so proud of her, but I still missed all her beautiful long hair. She now has a short bob, which shows a whole new side of her and I love her even more. Although I do still miss that long hair that I could play with :-)

  61. I know how you feel :) :(

Sometimes kids DO know better than us and it can be a bit of a surprise. We just did the same with our 7 yr old girl and we all love it. Prettier, healthier and a lot less trouble!!! (the hair too)

  64. oh my goodness, that style really suits her! she is beautiful! my 8yo sister just got her long, long hair cut the same way. i LOVE this style for little girls. classic, adorable.

  65. Short and Sassy! Love it! Very chic and free-spirited. What a doll!

  66. I love it.....very cute.

  67. You did a beautiful job on her hair! She looks so distinguished & fashionable!

I always compare cutting my kids hair to eating soup while driving down a bumpy road...but at 3 & 5...that's what you'd expect. I'm just happy when they hold still & it looks halfway decent!

    :o)

  68. She looks so lovely, Anna Maria. But I totally know how you felt!

A couple of weeks ago my little girl (3 years old) was complaining about her little brother (1) who pulled her pony tails all the time and the fact that she hated her hair to be brushed. At one point I got a bit tired of her whining (I do my best, but sometimes my patient comes to an end :-)) and I said to her that if she hated her long hair that much we better cut it off. I somehow expected her to not want that at all, but to my shock she said: Ok. Worse than that: In the next couple of days she kept begging me to indeed cut her hair. So in the end, I did. With pain in my heart, because I loved her long hair. But I have to admit: She looks better with her hair shorter. So I'm ok with it now :-)

    ReplyDelete
  69. very cute.. the short hair definitely suits her more..and is a carefree fun look.. much more easy to manage i'm sure.

  70. That just opened her cute face right up! I think it really suits her.

  73. In Australia, the word "Ugg" means "Boot". ugg clearance Ever since the '60's, Ugg boots have been in use by Australian surfers for warmth after getting out of cold water. When Ugg Boots migrated to California (along with the surfers), nice and cheap ugg boots the surfing community there also embraced the thermostatic boots (they keep you warm when it's cold, nice and cheap ugg boots while whisking away any moisture when it's hot).
