My boys

his.own.favorite.self

One of these boys makes deadlines so much easier and one of them makes deadlines, umm, uhh, less easy. I love all four of them. Erhh two of them. (Well, I do love all four of my boys, its just the other two are at school right now, so of course I was talking about the two in the mirror. I might be the only human who could make it this confusing.)

I am so so so so so so close to being finished I can taste it. I don't know what it tastes like, but it seemed like I should say something like that for you to know what I mean.

Oh and Roman in jeans. I have mixed feeling about babies in jeans. I feel guilty for putting this stiff fabric on his sweet soft body (even the softest denim is still denim) but I also can't stand his little diaper butt in jeans. It overwhelms me with cuteness almost to the point of having to look away. Can't stand it.

Okay~have a wonderful long, long few days of sweet summer and I will see you on the other side of the weekend and my deadline!

kisses & cute babies to you (better than hugs), Anna Maria

  1. Long time reader first time commenter... LOVE YOUR BLOG. Love it.

And I totally know what you mean about babies in jeans. I still find myself favoring soft pants over jeans for my 2 year old.

  4. My, he's getting so big..! (And I mean the little one. You know, the one with the cute diapered bottom.)
Love your writing - it's so funny and touching, and I just can't figure out how you do it all (and so well, may I add) with six kids..! I am in constant awe. I have just one and feel overwhelmed most of the time. Anyway - can't wait to see your new project... :)

  5. Roman is just so darling. Sigh.... And I have always had the same jeans conflict. When my son was a baby those tiny blue jeans were just too cute for words but all those heavy seams on the inside just didn't seem like they would be comfortable. He didn't seem to mind. But I still put him in jeans for photo ops. It was like I finally had a REAL baby doll. I changed him constantly. First the jeans, then overalls, then the smocked boutique baby clothes that my husband cringed over.....It was so much fun.

Your little boy it's getting more beautiful each passing day, I supose that's why he makes more difficult deadlines! :)

  8. Go looking for these "jeans" Mulberribush makes-- I found our on Ebay, NWT!-- they are some sort of stretchy knit-esque fabric that looks just like dark denim and is cut like a jean, but much, much softer. I finally caved and bought my 2-year-old a pair (I also have issues with kiddos and jeans) and I had no idea how much they would mean to him. He wore them daily for weeks b/c they are "just like Daddy's pants." Oh, and good luck with the book thing!
I just so happen to have seen the new fabric previews, and I need instructions on what to do with it!

  9. Oh, I love baby bottoms in jeans! Overalls kill me dead, though, for reals. Babies in overalls, jubilee!

  10. I completely know what you mean about the jeans. I actually recycled a pair of my old jeans to make my little guy a pair. He's three months old and we live in Arizona, so he has absolutely no need for them, but he is just so darn cute in them. I totally agree about the yumminess of a baby's tush in jeans. Just too much to handle!

LOVE your blog by the way! And good luck on the deadline. Can't wait to see your new book!

    Lots o love,
    Tarrah

  11. I have to agree. Babies in jeans are darling! My boys (twins) wore them all the time in England, though it was pretty chilly there, and the jeans seemed thicker, and therefore, warmer than most others. But I also have to agree with the poster before me. Overalls are the cutest thing EVER! I think my boys have had one in every size so far. :) Can't wait to see all your new stuff!

i'm loving your blog- and fabrics- and your first book(i just made the soccer ball- so fun!)
CAN'T wait for the new fabric and book!

  19. Oh finish DEFINITELY has a taste...the sweet, tangy flavour of completion, satisfaction and pleased-with-yourself-edness...and followed shortly thereafter by actually being able to taste what you are eating (rather than the last month where the only flavours were *one more chapter* and *I should be doing illustrations/editing*.

And babies in jeans...I'm so glad I'm not the only mama who all but had existential angst over the harsh fabric/droolworthy baby butt dilemma! A hint...denim dungarees once the crawling starts. Oh my.

  29. How funny! I thought I was the only momma who felt that way about baby jeans...so cute, but too close to getting big. Enjoy yourself while you meet your deadline, otherwise it's just work!

  30. Glad to know I'm not the only one hesitant about babies in jeans! As long as there's no flannel shirt or camouflage in sight, I can deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh my. He is just so deliciously, squeezably adorable I can't stand it. And I feel the same way, I always tried not to make my wee ones wear jeans too much because they didn't seem comfortable, but there's nothing cuter than a baby in jeans.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Roman is growing so fast, now he's already in some cute little blue jeans...

I agree, I would almost be tempted to keep any child under the age of 3 in cloth or linen pants, but sometimes it's just so cute to see them looking so grown up with their blue jeans on.

    ReplyDelete
  33. What a cute! And baby boys just look adorable in jeans -- there's no getting around it. My son is almost 19, but I still adore the way he looked in a jeans jacket as a toddler. SO CUTE!

I finally managed to collect the entire Good Folks line and was literally dreaming (seriously) in Good Folks prints all night a few nights ago. I accidentally doubled up on some, so I'm sharing the wealth and having a little giveaway on my blog. It will be hard to pack four of my little friends away (since I have to pet them every day), but my blogger friends are very excited about it, and it is so much fun! Stop by sometime =).

  34. There's just that something that makes babies so cute in mini grown up clothes... especially jeans! Roman is the sweetest, and makes my two-year old look like a giant. Good luck with your deadlines... so excited for you as many of your readers are.

  37. Boys are just too much fun! Sometimes I can't believe that I gave birth to such a boyish boy, such a rock-throwing, motorcycle (mo-go!) loving, tool-wielding, dad-copying baby. But having our little mini-man around is such a blast! Even if they can have a tendency to disregard deadlines:)

  38. I really don't know how you do it....I admire your ability to multitask! I've only found a limited amount of time to sew since our third little guy was born!

  40. Hee hee! I'm positively *obsessed* with teeny tiny jeans!!! We refer to them as "little man clothes", and both of my poor boys have worn more than their share of jeans ;o) It's a darling thing - but I tend to reserve it for going out, as it's way too much trouble keeping real clothes on the babies if I'm just staying here lol!

What a gorgeous little guy - you are one lucky mama!

Little girls have frilly fluffy dresses.... not terribly practical but ridiculously cute.

And little boys, well, little boys have jeans. And they look so cute in them it is hard to resist!

  44. Hi Anna Maria. I love your blog and follow it often. Hey, I just wanted you to know that I use your fabric all the time, and in particular on three purses I just finished. Pictures are on my blog if you're interested. Have a great day! I'm so jealous of your baby; mine littlest one is two.

  45. I am in love with my little man (10 months) in his very hip, faded in just the right way, way cooler than the rest of us, jeans... oh my, I totally know what you mean with the almost having to look away! There's an intensity to that cuteness!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I feel the EXACT same way about jeans on babies. So hard. I actually put my last one in denim overalls, which I always hated on my older ones, and it turned out to be such a "signature" for him. It is sad when you have to buy big boy stuff permanently. The baby clothes only last for a wee bit. And, much to my dissatisfaction, seems that "for the clothes" is not a good enough reason to have another baby. Darn.

Neither is "to use that next cute name on the list."

    Double Darn.

By the way, I hope you never take down that header picture of yours. Love love love it!

  47. Hello Anna, you have a lovely family and such a cute baby...I remember years ago now - I put our 6 month old in a leather biker jacket!!!! Yikes!!! The thought that we actually done that!!! EeK!...dont worry about the jeans...he looks so happy, I am sure its not bothering him :)

    Love Happy xx
