....Mr. Two-months-old slept 8 hours last night for the first time ever.
And this may be an obvious detail, but I slept 8 hours last night too, for what felt like the first time ever.
And naturally once awake, realizing how much time had passed, I jumped up with a start and checked to see if he was breathing.
Looks like he's just fine, no?
xo, Anna (where sleep is such a big huge stinkin' deal)
YAY! A full nights sleep makes a big difference for momma!
ReplyDeleteHigh five~
Can't believe how quickly your baby is turning into a little man! Awwww~ That smile is soooo sweet~
Happy Summer,
Laurie
xo
Isn't that the truth - when a mom finally gets a great sleep they wake up not refreshed but worried and panicked and rush to the nursery to make sure everything is okay - I think we all do it. Glad to see you were well rested - hopefully this will be start of some more wonderful nights sleeps.
ReplyDeleteI REQUIRE 8 hours of sleep a night... thats the one thing I sorta dread about having a baby. But yay for you! He's getting big! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!!! My three month old started sleeping through the night about a month ago too! He even went 12 hours once!!! Now it's more like 7, but still, it is SOO nice! My other kids did maybe 4 or 5, tops!
ReplyDeleteYippee for you!! I hope it keeps up!!!!
Yay for 8 hours of beauty sleep!
ReplyDeleteHe's a cutie!
Woohoo he's a big boy now...:)
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! He is just adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI remember those days vividly. Now my youngest is 10 and keeps me up late with her anxiety. Crazy!? I do okay with six hours a night but would enjoy 7 or 8 hours. I'm glad he slept through the night for you. Mother's really appreciate their sleep! Your son is adorable too!
ReplyDeleteDo you not feel like a new woman after that ? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are very lucky!
ReplyDeleteMy daughters didn'n sleep in the night till they were about two years old and it was terrible for me!
I'm on week two with my new baby girl and we're still pretty much attatched at the chest ;-) I'm looking forward to this phase! 8 hours of sleep sounds VERY nice!
ReplyDeleteI can remember....
ReplyDeleteAnd he looks fine and already soooo big!!!! It is amazing!
Greetings,
Sabine
Too cute - and I remember those times.....and then you panic thinking something must be wrong for them to have slept so long. But then they are just laying there sleeping so soundly :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the sleep and hope it continues!
Hurrah! Here's to many more uninterrupted nights ahead!
ReplyDeleteLove, Susan
Hooray! He is darling! He reminds me of my nephew. :)
ReplyDeleteSleep is always a big deal when you are deprived of it :-)
ReplyDeleteI remember those days. Actually, we just got a kitten who likes to "nurse" on our necks or any exposed skin in the middle of the night. I was so excited when he finally slept through the night or at least didn't bother us. lol Here's the magic of a good night's sleep.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the sleep! My boy didn't sleep that long at night until he was 6 months old, & that's b/c I couldn't take getting up in the middle of the night anymore & had to let him cry it out.
ReplyDeleteYour little guy is SO cute - children really are a blessing.
PS - I love your pillow in the background.
Oh my - he is so gosh darn cute!! look at that smile! congrats on that 1st full-night's sleep. that's a milestone!
ReplyDeleteAwww...he is so stinkin' cute! I have done the same thing when my babies starting sleeping longer...you can't help but worry!
ReplyDeleteHe is a gorgeous babe! Look at that smile light up the photo! Cayute!
ReplyDeleteYey that he's slept so long! horray!
jayne:)
Isn't that the cutest smile I have ever seen...
ReplyDeleteHooray for sleep!!!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh.... look at that sweet smile!! He's getting big!! :) They grow SO fast!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, how can he have changed so much since I just saw him 9 days ago!
ReplyDeleteROMAN sure looks well rested!
ReplyDeleteoh isn't that first night blissful? Now if only my 3 year olds could remember that skill...they seemed to have a good handle on it until they turned 2! Bother! Well done wee Roman!
ReplyDeleteWow he is cute. sleep is crucial
ReplyDeleteHooray!! I am glad to know that no matter how many kids you have the reaction to "too much sleep" is the same. Congrats on a full night!
ReplyDeleteLove that toothless smile! I remember when I did that very same thing with each of my children... thanks for reminding me!
ReplyDeleteyes! YES!!! I think you take the cake for awesome news today (and I'm jealous)!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to experience 8 hours of sleep in a row too! My 5 week old is up to about 4-5 hours in a row which I will absolutely take with the promise of more on the way.
ReplyDeleteOh, how sweet! Those days were not so very long ago... :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful boy! I am sharing all his pictures with my niece who may start trying for #1 with IUI in September...along with her wife we are a family sharing quarters here in California and I can't wait! Love the background--is it a quilt or a pillow?
ReplyDeleteIt is esay to take sleep for granted when you are not pregnant or taking care of a new born. I remember when I had Alexia, she was a premie, I told my mom I missed sleep. She said that once you had a child that is it for "true" sleep. After that you are just happy when you get to close your eyes for six hours straight. Oh, he looks absolutely happy, healthy and gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteXO

WOWza. Yay. I kept shaking my good sleeper awake because after my seriously not good sleeper I could not imagine that a baby could actually sleep more than 2 hours... hope he's into repeat performances!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet and he looks content and soooo well loved...oh and rested too. To another long night of peace!
ReplyDeleteHe is just too cute. love that smile. i remember the feeling to of finally getting a full night sleep and then realizing with a start to go check to see if baby is still breathing. He's absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations Anna Maria!
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing the first time my seven week old son slept 8+ hours. I was nursing and the two you know who's actually woke me up.
ReplyDeleteHe's 13 years old now and sleeps for hours and hours and hours . . . . . .
Congrats. My baby is 8 1/2 wks old and he slept 7 hours last night. Its amazing how wonderful that feels after so long without normal sleep, so I had to laugh when I read your post today. Here's to many more!
ReplyDeleteYahoo! Hopefully it is the first of many sleep filled nights:) He has a great smile!
ReplyDeleteWow -- good news for you! BUT -- not quite as exciting as coming home to a package of Anna Maria Horner fabrics. Yippee!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous....it's been 11 months and 2 weeks and my little bugger STILL has never once ever slept through that long :/ sigh...
ReplyDeleteSleep is a big stinking deal! Anyone who doesn't get that doesn't have kids! I never thought I would be so obsessed with sleep. Sleep and poop. What have things come to?
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I must say I am quite jealous. My little one is almost 8 weeks old and is still waking up at least once a night. Hopefully, I too will be joining the sleeping club soon!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Mine is two weeks older and still not sleeping through the night. Add to that the fact we just got back from vacation in another time zone, and I'm trying to get her back to the 'old' schedule where she slept at least 4-5 hours!
ReplyDeleteWell congratulations. That's a huge milestone!
ReplyDeleteHope you experienced a wonderfully fantastic Tuesday!
From one mom of many to another. . .sleep is a BIG HUGE STINKIN' deal! I'm so glad for you. . .and it looks like Roman enjoyed his lengthy nap as well. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHorray for 8 hours of sleep! Congrats, lady...it is a big day! Good luck tonight.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way he is the darn cutest thing ever with that gummy smile! LOVE!
xo Simone
Wow, what a good boy, that! And he's getting so big!
ReplyDeleteHello. This little baby boy is sweet as candy. 8 hours sleep. Wow.
ReplyDeleteMy little sweet baby girl was born on may 19th 2009, also.
she also sleeps very well, but 8 hours. No way;-)))
Wibke
I hope you had lovely dreams!!
ReplyDeletewhen there is a two month old sleep is always a big deal!
ReplyDeleteHe is just beautiful!!!
Glad to know I am not the only one who jump awake to check for breathing like that!
ReplyDelete8 hours of delicious sleep was mine last night too!
CongratulationZZZzzzzzzz...
ReplyDeleteawww....such a beautiful smile. Incidentally last night i saw this book in michael's ... at first glance i thought it was somehow related to yours ... same binding style and all ... funny no?

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Both on the beautiful boy and on the sleep! My almost-4-mos old is nursing once/night. He is my 6th and we have 3boys, 3girls also.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I just discovered you. I love your fabrics and am looking forward to ordering your book soon. I am a novice but am wanting to improve.
Thank you for adding to the beauty!

ReplyDeleteWahoo! Sleep is a wonderful thing!
ReplyDeleteHis smile is to die for!
He's beautiful. I had that same experience with my son, he's 14 now.
ReplyDeleteMay this be a door to a new phase, the one of 'good nights' sleep...
ReplyDeleteHe is yummy...
Enjoy,
Annamaria
Absolutely could eat him up with a spoon. You have such a beautiful family. I am sure you know how lucky you are; as I know how much work you must spend raising them so well.
ReplyDeleteWow! Look at him. It's amazing how babies grow in the first year... congrats on your first eight-hour sleep marathon since his birth... ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh, he is lovely! so much personality in that little face of his.
ReplyDelete-Carolyn
I can't believe how much he has grown in this short of a time.. He is adorable. And a full nights sleep too? You have to feel like wonder woman. and I remember running to see if mine were still breathing too.. Thanks for sharing all this with us.. you are helping my baby cravings!
ReplyDeleteawesome!!! yaaay for sleep!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous...4 months and haven't gotten more than a 4 hour stretch out of my little bunchkin.

Congrats! Hope he gives you a repeat performance soon, and its not a one off. Even if it is, those few days of clear thinking are definitely a wonderful thing.
ReplyDeleteYay, for sleep! What a lovely baby and lovely blog... Thankful to have found you!
ReplyDelete-maria
Congratulations on all that sleep! What a big boy, sleeping eight hours! <3
ReplyDeleteHi Anna,
ReplyDeleteI am expecting my fifth. Due Aug.5.
I am praying for a little cloud that sleeps through at 8 weeks.
My first child did. We were so surprised by it that we were afraid to even look to see if she was okay. The three kids after that took their sweet years of waking up many many times at night.
We always joke sleeping through what is that again?
I love your opening photo of your kids on the settee. So much love it shows.
I have been following your blog for a little while now. I love it.
It is so real and refreshing.
It makes me feel that Moms with big families can do wonderful things too.
hugs
Damn… jealous. My babe (who was born on the same day as yours) is still every 3 hrs… agh Any tips???
ReplyDeleteOh how this made me smile!! I love all your photos!! Congratulations!! What a beautiful baby!!
ReplyDeletethe first time either of my kids slept through the night I remember staying up half the night thinking good grief! They are still sleeping! So yay for your eight hours as well as mister thru the night. Happy resting!
ReplyDeletewhat a little darling!!! Enjoy!
ReplyDelete~Emily
I have done the exact same thing...slept a while and then checked to make sure they're breathing. ;) Sleep is truly a wonderful thing...in fact sometimes i wish I could reclaim all those hours I didn't want to nap as a child! LOL
ReplyDeletefirst time here.....and it's very nice to meet you - I too am a stay at home mom with five children, and I'm on a farm -
ReplyDeleteplease do stop by when you get a chance...
your name sounds SO familiar to me.......
Hey, I have a thought for you to entertain (maybe) on one of those sleepless nights? I want to reupholster our living room - especially since my daughter was recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (on the autism spectrum) and Anxiety Disorder. Part of helping her through it is ridding our home as much as possible of dust mites (for possible related allergies). I want to reupholster using your fabrics, but fibers retain mites moreso than, say, leather or faux leather fabrics would. Since you did oilcloth, ever consider printing your designs on faux leather for home decor? It would also perhaps set you apart in the home decor market. Just a thought....
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams!
He looks well-rested. I think he needed it. And he knew you needed it.
ReplyDeleteSo I pop over periodically, but it's been a while, and I had forgotten that your baby should have born... until of course this most precious of photos!! Wow! What a cutie pie and so incredibly nibble worthy!
ReplyDeleteAmazing too how much he has grown, cause of course I thine had to go back and read and scan the last few months. Congratulations on your most recent family addition!!!
And do enjoy your sleep!! My three year old is acting like a four month old and I am tired.
Oh my that outfit is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making the cover. I think people just want THAT specific fabric because some of us have a really hard time deciding on a fabric for a project. I am sure the new fabrics will be just as gorgeous!!
Hi Anna,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through another blog... :-)
I am not that professional at sewing but I love sewing blogs.
And my Mr. 3monthsold is always happy about new toys and trousers.
Looking forward to follow your ideas.
Carla
Oh, Anna, I remember the time our Jordi did that for the first time...she was a good 9 months old...it does make you nervous the first time...but oh, the day feels SO good...doesn't it!

ReplyDeleteOh sleep is like gold!!! I am so happy for you! I'm in my last trimester with 2nd baby and know it won't be coming to me anytime soon. BUT if I had lovely, fun pillows such as the ones behind your cutie, I might enjoy my awake time much more.
ReplyDeleteHe is just adorable! And what a cute smile.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what 8 straight hours of sleep can do. :)
Oh man...I remember those times. You love the quiet, but why is it so quiet? :) lol

Lucky! I'm jealous! My Ian didn;t pull an all-nighter until 4 months.
ReplyDeleteI love the pillow/quilt in the background and would love to know how you did it? is it one big piece of fabric with the other fabrics in squares with the edges folded under and sewn on? The way it's pieced together is great.
ReplyDeleteand... congrats on the 8 hours, i hope that is still happening weeks later.
