Getting Through Today's Rain is brought to you by the color Purple

purple.1

And its still raining. We did have a break yesterday and I think every soul in middle Tennessee mowed their grass, 'cept us of course. I took this bouquet and a model and a photographer and some other pretty stuff to a nearby park for a photo shoot. My newest big project is underway, (yes, besides the human that I'm growing) and can't wait to share more.

purple.2

For now though, these royal purple beauties have me feeling like all the rain isn't so bad. If you can indeed reach your weeds its a good time to get those. Not to mention the pitter-patter is so charming if you stay inside.

purple.3

Look at her in the front. Doesn't she look like she's directing some slickered and galoshed school children across the street? Or maybe she's pointing me to her good side.

purple.4

Oh yes, I agree. Thank you, gorgeous.

rain

As with most things, its all a matter of what you choose to focus on. Even if RAIN is in the forecast for many days more. (Or it could be that taking directions from and talking to flowers is a serious sign that its time for some sun and fresh air. Hmmm. Whatever feels the most poetic to you.)

  2. Keep focusing on the beauty in life. It's a wonderful thing - even when you're living in the assylum. ;)

  4. I can't believe it has been raining for so long! Yesterday was a nice reprieve from the rain preparing us for today, when yet again the heavens have opened up! We're trying to embrace it in true 2-year-old enthusiasm and do our best to leave no puddle untouched. (Fortunately, there haven't been many thunderstorms involved with this rain!!)

Your tulips are gorgeous!!! Love that color of purple. And my, you are ambitious! Most would be satisfied with the challenges of a newborn! But I'm very excited to hear of an upcoming project!

Oh, and we failed to mow our lawn as well. I'm a little frightened by what it might look like when the rain does finally ease up.

  5. Good morning... it's sunny here. I am tempted to bring home some flowers, like yours, and see if it won't lure some rain to fall!

  6. You could trade your rain to us Californians... We are facing yet another year of drought and fines for watering the yard!

  7. slickered and galoshed school children - or the "Make Way for Ducklings" statue in Boston Commons! Mama duck leading her ducklings...

Enjoy the rain. Or as my son would say, "Pea Soup!"

  9. No worries, we were not able to mow our grass yesterday. My 15 month old is not understanding why he cannot go outside to play. Your tulips are gorgeous. The rain is a bummer in some ways, but the green is such a glorious color right now because of it. Also, it has made me stay home and enjoy some indoor time with the kids!

  11. Those tulips are gorgeous! It has been raining off and on for several days here as well (I live in Memphis). We had some very frightening thunder claps late last night.

  12. Pretty Tulips!! It's been raining here in Tulsa for what seems like an eternity. I've got flowers on my porch, waiting to be put in the ground. Once the sun comes out, the planting will be so easy- the ground will just be mush. And those weeds are practically going to jump out of the ground when I give them a tug. But Where Oh Where is the Sunshine?!!

  13. That's such a beautiful scene. I don't think the tulips would be as gorgeous without the rain!

  14. You're not alone: we didn't mow either on the West side!
You're so industrious. Let us know about your project. Stay dry!

  25. Oh Anna Maria! Those of us in NJ are just as tired of the rain!! Hopefully, Sunny days are on the horizon!

  26. That is a beautiful color. I will say that with all the rain, things here are lush and green and the grass looks like it would feel like a feather bed if you laid down on all of it's thick green lushness. But I would be o.k. if the rain would let up a bit.

  27. Hello Anna!

We've been having rain here in Missouri too. Our boys are mowing today...

Actually purple is one of my very favorite colors! I love it when you use purple in your fabric lines. The shades you use are so rich looking and it's a difficult color to find on fabrics. (by the way, those flowers are gorgeous...)

I can hardly wait to see what you're up to now! Hope we can hear soon!

May God bless you, dear Anna!

  28. I think the tulips was saying thatnks for being inside with you and not outside in the rain!
We went from some rain to total, socked in, velvety fog. Can't see six feet in front of you fog. I love it. We did get some humidity, which is uncomfortable, but I chose to look at the fog growing off the pavement, because that was so warm, and as the fog settled it rose back up...really pretty, a little eery.
    How are you feeling?

  29. Hi....I'm over here in Maryville Tn and we are so soggy. I just want to get out in my garden and plant but I think I'll stay inside and work on that beautiful Anna Maria Horner quilt which came in the mail recently. Soon we will have to get out our ark. :)

I always read along here and I love your stuff and fabric.

    Kind regards from The Netherlands,
