Eleni's Spring Accessory Must-Haves

cat.as.a.hat

Always a leader and never a follower, Eleni insists that felines on the head are the next big thing. She recently watched precisely two brothers and one sister place live frogs on their heads but decided the side effect of frog-pee on your head wasn't in her current fashion vs. fashion-consequences gamebook. (I decided however that should I want to induce labor via laughter I will ask them all to do the frog thing again.)

She's also noticing Ducks around the neck becoming and important part of the Spring 09 style scene. Classic yet Pop Culture, these charming little quacks are reminiscent of your tub toys yet also provide a nice glimpse of the summer ahead where we'll be floating around on their inflatable cousins.

Feeling a little warm? Try Eleni's pick for cooling oneself on a budget. The obvious solution is at once simple and genius. By recycling your favorite art, you'll have as many one-of-a-kind pieces as your pre-school class can churn out.

Thanks for joining us.

(I don't make this stuff up, I just document it. She really came in "ready" for school outfitted with all three. Which was followed by some some great one on one conversation about form, function, and practicality regarding accessories. I couldn't make this up. Its too good.)

xoxo,Anna

  2. As a certain Miss Anna Wintour would say... "It's strong, pretty and wearable. And the stores will love it." ;)

  3. Eleni stands in a long line of fashionable people who put things on their heads. See this lovely youtube video.

  7. Lordy, that is a cute, cute kid!! My 17 yo son puts our cat on his head and has the scratches to prove it!

  8. And now off with me to adorn myself with cat on head, ducky around neck, and, well, must rely on my 6-year-old for the fan (even if I'm her biggest fan).

Drats, though. I've been checking your site daily - and when your blog goes for days with (dare I say it?) a pregnant pause, I think of you peacefully resting chez hospital with new wee one. And I eagerly anticipate the welcome-to-the-world post, as do you, I imagine.

  9. Are you trying to say the cat on the head thing is not practical?

  10. She's adorable - accessorized and all. Love her Boden shirt ;)

  11. Eleni, you have a Super Models face! So warm and friendly with a bit of vinegar mixed in I think. I agree with you that Rubber Duckys are just the thing and the Kitty Cat Hat is warm and would work with a pony tail. The handmade recycled Art Fan is genius.I will be using that idea for sure this summer. I can't wait to hear about your next idea.

  18. NICE! I am always open for some Eleni inspiration. A little tame today but I'm quite sure there was some funky socks or shoes to finish it all off. Enjoy that girl!

  20. I completely believe you. Our youngest has a definite style all his own too. It's the best to be so uninhibited in your style. Hey what the heck, set a trend, everyone should now and then. Especially when they are 5.

  21. Oh, this is great, way better than the classic: summer clothes in winter and visa versa. Way better.
A new designer in the making!
Have fun with it, that seems to be her motto, well it brought a happy face on didn't it? :-)

  27. I have to second the duckie around the neck thing. My girls are in love with ducks. Kittens, too, but I'll have to inform them the kittens are supposed to be worn on the head.... :)

My 5 year old son must have heard about the duck thing too... he has four of those same duck necklaces and likes to wear them all at the same time. Apparently, less is not more!

  30. She is very beautiful!! Those eyes just draw you in. I am sure it is hard to say no to anything she wants...you must want to give her the world with that precious look! I remember once having a little person who was a very free thinker, (my daughter), and she would come up with many "strange to me" outfit combos! She loved them and a lot of her friends ended up liking them too. She is my artistic one!...surprise!
