Where have I been!? And why do I make promises? Anyway, whatever I rambled about showing Good Folks last week, lets pretend that I said this week. All set then.

Good Folks was inspired by various sets of things, but all of the notions in my mind had kindness involved. Odd? Perhaps. But can't think of how else to say it. Old European linens. Family. Hand-loomed wool bedspreads. Meals. Fields. Embroidery. Needlepoint kits that I spent summers in Greece as a child occupied with. The icons of the village churches. Layer upon layer of mismatched bed linens piled on top of my floor palette in the upper room of my Yiayia's house to keep me warm even though it was the middle of the summer. Tablecloths drying in the sun. Memories of what my cousin's dowry of linens looked like. All the details. All the work. All the warmth. All the good wishes. Weddings. Wine. Love. Goodness.
Shall we get on with the slideshows?
Above we have the "byzantine" palette. Sun. Berries. Azaleas. Brick paths.
And here is the "adriatic" palette. Sea. Meadows. Evenings. Plums.
And speaking of Good Folks, I want to share this 5th collection of mine with 5 of you in the best way possible! How about a stack? Leave me a comment and share what you think of when you think of "good". Whether that means pizza or salary bonuses. Up to you. I can't help, of course, but think of YOU when I think of GOOD. Because you are. Thank you for your continued interest and encouragement, and also your patience!
I'll leave the post open for comments until the fabrics get here, which could be in a week or two. If blogger starts blipping out, and not taking your comments, just send them to comments@annamariahorner.com and I'll be sure to get them in the drawing. I do have one more extra special surprise for this collection which I will share soon!
best, xoxo, Anna
Good is what it feels like when your child smiles at you for the first time in their wee life.
ReplyDeletegood is when you're forgiven and warmth is restored.
ReplyDeleteGood is what I strive to be to others...
ReplyDeleteAnd good stuff is that festival print...love it!

ReplyDelete"good" is watching your children sleeping peacefully. or, when they all crawl into bed to watch morning cartoons.
ReplyDeletebeautiful fabrics -- i especially love the adriatic selections.
Lovely collection!
ReplyDeleteFor me, good=thoroughly decent, genuine and kind. Good isn't perfect, but good is serene and always admirable.
For me Good is everything that makes me feel Warm 'n Fuzzy inside :) like love, food and good wishes ^_^
ReplyDeleteGood is a walk in the park on a sunny day, when it seems as though the universe is on your side and conspiring for your favor.
ReplyDeleteSpreading the love.
ReplyDeleteGood is cousins, good food, laughter, and knitting.
ReplyDeleteMy mother, hands in a sink of her sister-in-laws dirty dishes says "It is so easy to do these little things and they make such a big difference to people." She's a good one, that mother of mine.
ReplyDeleteGood is realizing how amzing it is to be who you are and how special you are. It is realizing that God made you you for a special reason and you have love and purpose.
ReplyDeleteFeeling your baby girl squirming in your belly!
ReplyDeleteThis new collection just makes me want to squeal with delight and then buy it all to make cute things for our little Junebaby...
Good is always being greeted with a smile! The collection is fabulous and very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteGood is s l e e p i n g t h r o u g h t h e n i g h t. Which I haven't done in many months! Soon, I know it's coming soon! :)
ReplyDeleteAbsoultely BEAUTIFUL fabric! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Good is warm cups of coffee with a bit of cream and rock sugar in the mornings!
ReplyDeleteGood is curling up with loved ones to watch movies when it starts snowing outside! And then deciding to turn off the t.v. and get the sleds out!
Good is eating sun-warmed tomatoes straight off the vine like an apple in July.
ReplyDeletepeace on the inside
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Carol and say that good is being a grandma. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd your fabrics are better than just "good"!!
Good is your 2-year-old granddaughter saying "I love you, Grandma" and your 9-month-old grandson giving you a huge smile when he sees you. Great, actually, but the word was "good."
ReplyDeleteGood is fresh bread, a new quilt just out of the dryer, a good cuddle with my husband and all the pets, a marathon of a really good TV show, when a stranger slows down to let you merge on the freeway, oh how the list is long... Good is spending life focusing on all those positive things and not the negative. And of course good is this new beautiful fabric line!!! (alissahaight at hotmail dot com 'cause blogger can be weird)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabrics! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood to me is laying on the couch, reading books with my son.
God. Who created all color and has the largest palette of all. And Who gives beyond measure. And allows us innumerable joys in this life and hope for the next, wherein can you even begin to imagine the color possibilities? God is good.
ReplyDeleteawesome fabrics! Such happy prints.
ReplyDeleteGood for me is: it is snowing outside, I know I have the day off and I can stay in bed with a good, hot cup of tea and read 'till my hearts content.

I thought of sweet elderly neighbors.
ReplyDeleteThe new collection is gorgeous! Your designs trylu bless my heart! When I think of goodness, I think of God because there is none more faithful and none more creative.
ReplyDeleteGood is spending the day baking cookies with my Norweigian Yia yia (mor mor)and hear all the wonderful stories she has to tell about my Papou
ReplyDeleteGoodness is all around us, if only we choose to see it.
ReplyDeleteGood is being inside when it's freezing outside, with a cup of hot cocoa, the fireplace roaring and a good book and a blanket on your lap... and maybe a cat purring by your side.
ReplyDeleteGood is when I leave work to pick up my 7 year old daughter, Sadie. She is always happy to see me! She tells me everyday how beautiful I am. She is the real beauty!
ReplyDeleteWhat's good is not necessarily what's best-liked, or most fun, or what we'd wish to have happen. Discipline is good, sad times can be good, a broken arm can be good in comparison to what could have been. I'm learning this very very slowly.
ReplyDeleteGood is realizing how connected we all are, the way things come together, right when we need it. Love, Love, Love the new fabrics! You've got a gift, girl! Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteOpen windows with the sun streaming in, cool ocean breeze, and an afternoon nap...even better than good.
ReplyDeleteGood is when your dinner is cooking and you have time to sit and sew!
ReplyDeletegood = a choice, as in an attitude
ReplyDeleteit's all how you look at it
It's such a selfish good, but the good when your sleepy little bundle of a child crawls into your arms late at night because she can't sleep and just wants to be close. She should so be in bed, asleep - but I still love when that happens. It is so good.
ReplyDeleteGOOD is listening to your 2 year old read aloud to your 6 month old, "once upon a time there was a snowplow on the road......."
ReplyDeleteGood nights sleep. I haven't had one in 8 months. 4 hours would be fine by me!
ReplyDeleteGood is a steaming cup of tea, cuddling under a quilt, bread baking in the oven, a crackling fire, music playing.....aaahhh.
ReplyDeleteAmy

LOVE the new line... that "fortune" in chocolate is calling my name.
ReplyDelete"Good" makes me think of the feeling of being wrapped up in a warm hug... heads that nestle perfectly into necks, and the smell of freshly washed hair.
But now that you mentioned pizza that's all I can think about being good...
Good to me is simple. A day at home when all the work is done. A day of nothingness when I can slip away into a book or simply stare at the glowing fireplace. A day to nap and snack. And dream.
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that comes to mind is that good = good food! delicious, comforting food...is there anything better? Or maybe that should be...is there anything gooder? :P
ReplyDeleteLove the new fabrics. They are so beautiful all together!
Good is fun giveaways! And dogs. We love dogs and all their goodness -- well, at least in their little doggie hearts. They don't always act so "good" when they chew up things...:)
ReplyDeleteGood is the warmth of a smile and an embrace.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna, these are just beautiful.
Right now GOOD for me is imagining looking into my little boys eyes for the first time. He should be here within the next few weeks, and I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGood is sleep. Snuggly, warm, dreamy type of sleep with soft cotton, down, and a loved one to share it with.
ReplyDeleteLove the cheeriness of your new lines!
Good to me is the FREEDOM to be who I was created to be!
ReplyDeleteGood is a new grandbaby on the way!
ReplyDeleteJust this morning I told myself I'm not buying any more fabric until I use up what I already have stockpiled. But these fantastic fabrics have completely weakened my resolve! (So if I were to win some, I could still technically honor my fabric budget!)
Good= good memory- a carefree day in San Gimignano Italy sipping wine and noshing on bread and prosciutto with my husband.

ReplyDeleteGood is having your toddler laugh delightedly at your crazy faces.
ReplyDeleteGood waking up to my kids each day. These are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh they are so beautiful! Good... is a date with my sweet hubby of nearly 22 years. Dinner out, walking around the bookstore, stopping for hot chocolate & then coming home to our 3 wonderful teenagers, that's good!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous collection! <3 I'm usually a lurker, I've only been following you in the past year, but I have read your entire blog! Which I find amazing, really!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what I think of good is new life. I'm a first time mom at 25, and it's really exciting, every time my baby moves, well, I'm sure you know how that joy and excitement just overcomes you! This will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family, and the first great-grandchild for both my sets of grandparents, which I am so blessed to still have! I could go on about the good-ness in my life! But I think that says enough <3
Good for me is time with my new fiance, not wedding planning. And time on my own... wedding planning.
ReplyDeleteGood is spending time with my wonderful husband, just the two of us. Good is also natural childbirth, and the four lovely children that came from such occasions! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove these new fabrics... they are beautiful.
to me, good is life. real life. all of it. waking up late, flowers, bugs, rainbows, schoolwork, fabric, seam ripping, quilting, sewing, love, friends, family...
ReplyDeleteSledding in the snow. Hot chocolate. Tired kids reading books together.
ReplyDeleteGood is forgetting everything else but the moment you're in.
ReplyDeleteSorry if this posts twice, I got an error when I tried to comment the first time!
ReplyDeleteGood is the beach. I grew up in Florida and spent most of my childhood playing in the Atlantic. Now I live in the desert and miss the "good" ocean breezes, the sunsets and the sound of seagulls.
Your collection is gorgeous!
good is spending time with those i love. nothing beats a good belly laugh with loved ones.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think I good,I think hot bubble bath, with hot tea (or martini), a stack of magazines.
ReplyDeleteGood is a day at the beach that isn't too windy.
ReplyDeletespending time with my daughter and husband.
ReplyDeleteopening doors for others, smiling, looking at someone in their eyes. smelling my baby. caring enough to listen. coffee and fresh baked bread. card games with my husband. giving what you have.
ReplyDeleteGood is a new baby set to arrive any day now. And a couple glorious weeks of 70* weather in the middle of January. And good is this new line--reminds me of the linens at my Nonna's house, still gracing her beds and tables to this day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Good is being in between my husband and little girl on the couch or in bed on a scary thundery night... even if that means me sweating or getting kicked from both ends :)
ReplyDeleteGood is watching your children peacefully sleep after a long, fun, day.
ReplyDeleteNew fabrics!
ReplyDeleteGOOD is a beautiful break like this from my day job. the prints are gorgeous, as are the inspirations behind them. this is exactly what i want to do when i grow up!

ReplyDeleteGood is seeing your child's happiness beaming in their eyes, helping other's without their knowledge, being at peace with yourself and others.
ReplyDeleteYour new fabrics are gorgeous!
Beautiful fabrics!! Good is a clean house, fresh flowers and a candle burning with quiet all around (though with 3 children, that really doesn't happen, so in reality - good is happy kids and a loud chaotic house (with the flowers and candle)).
ReplyDeletegood for me lately is healthy kids, kitchen cabinet jobs for my husbands new business, and not having to stress about money, right now that is good, oh, yeah, and the love from my husband.
ReplyDeleteThis week my good was the feverish daughter on my lap, the sewing son next to me and the dog on my feet. Add a good book and the ketle on for tea and it can't get better then good. Safe warm content together that is good..
ReplyDeleteGood is the mythical snuggly toddler crawling under the covers and sitting raptly still for a whole 3 minutes before squirming off to the next engagement.
ReplyDeleteGood is...

ReplyDeleteI think of good health. After a long illness it certainly is good to be feeling better and wanting to play with fabric again.
ReplyDeleteGood is when someone holds the door open for me, or gives a compliment. Good also means cute fabric!
ReplyDeleteThe first things to come to mind are: love and peace are "good."
ReplyDeleteBut also, the pecan pancakes at the Pancake Pantry. They actually might be "great" though. ;)
good is becoming an aunt on christmas day!
ReplyDeleteA cold night snuggled up by the fire with my husband, a quilt project and a nice glass of wine. A good nap on a Saturday afternoon. My yard in full bloom in the Spring. A clean and organized home from head to toe (oh dear, do I sound a bit anal??) The love of my Lord, my husband, my family and friends!
ReplyDeleteGood- the way I want to live my life. That I know that if tomorrow I dont take another breath that I will have no regret about the way I treated people and my enviroment, and my loved ones and those who hardly knew me will say... she was good.

Thanks and good luck with good folks :-)

Good is a simple pleasure. Somedays that good will be a latte another day it would be a snuggle with your daughter and the next day good could be a great morning run.
ReplyDeleteGood is: All the house windows open, warm wind blowing the sheers, walking around the house barefoot, sounds of the kids playing on the trampoline, green garden and colorful linens hanging on the clothes line. Summer colors everywhere, family and friends keeping us company to the late hours with lots of laughter.
ReplyDeleteLove your new line!!!
Good is compassion for everyone, regardless of who they are or what they've done. So good is also hard.
ReplyDeleteTo me good is preparing supper in my warm kitchen, my sweet girl (who will be off to college soon) doing her homework at the table, my precious boy playing with toys all over the kitchen floor and the sound of the best husband in the world coming in the door. It's my life and it's very good! p.s. I'm in love with your new line! Congratulations! Libby, Newnan GA
ReplyDeleteaaaahhhh. Can't wait to see these in person! So lovely.
ReplyDeleteGood is being complete in-and-of yourself. Others can and do enrich you tremendously, but if you aren't fulfilled at your core, if you are looking for others too fill in your emptiness, you can never be good. Wholeness is the most basic component of happiness.
Good is...
ReplyDelete- a warm smile and a twinkle in the eye of my hubby
- a raucously rambunctious greeting from my dog at the end of the day
- a pot of soup simmering away, ready for supper with warm bread
- time to get some sewing done!!!
Good is when you know your loved and love someone and when you look at your life and know that this is what it's all about. Goodness of people, love and joy!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!

Beautiful fabric!
ReplyDelete"Good" is something I can imagine myself exclaiming when sitting down on the sofa with my family, leaving work behind and just being able to enjoy our time together.
When I hear the word "good", I immediately think of God's "good-ness"!!!
ReplyDeletegood is the first time my daughter kissed me! and those fabrics are wonderful, really. and i'd promised myself i was NOT buying any more as my stash is so so big. but those remind me so much of all the old european linens my mother in law uses on her beds! they will be so cute for clothing! can't wait to see them!
ReplyDeleteOh, I had a very "good" moment the other day. My 19 year old son and I were kayaking. We stopped for a snack break (because I whined a whole lot until we did). We were sitting in our kayaks bumping up against the marsh grass in the middle of nowhere, just talking and sharing gingersnaps. And I agree with Susan, God is good!
ReplyDeleteI really love the fabrics and am excited to see the whole collection now! I really love reading the story behind your inspiration, which really gave me a good visual of what you may have been picturing.
ReplyDelete"Good" to me means happiness. Plain and simple but loaded and wonderful!
Good: early Saturday mornings on the porch - a cup of coffee, toast with wildflower honey, a clementine orange and a fuzzy terrier at your feet. Oh, and a husband by your side (who do you think made the coffee?). Good is counting your blessings.
ReplyDeleteAnother splendid collection, Anna Maria. Thanks for sharing your goodness with us.
Good is being pregnant with my first child (although that may qualify more as great)!
ReplyDeleteGood to me is salt on watermelon. Or peanut butter on apples. That unexpected pleasure of something so random. Good to me is also sitting out in my old field as a child singing at the top of my lungs like The Sound of Music. That is good. Youthful goodness. Goodness where you don't care who's listening because you're singing for the WORLD and you don't care what they think of it. Because you're young. And brave. And totally proud.
ReplyDeleteGood is chocolate and peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteGood is coming home to a warm fire, a hot cup of tea and cuddling with my husband.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the Buttoned Up and Small Gathering prints!
Can't wait to get my hands on them.

Spending good quality time with my family... and well a bonus or two worked in there isn't bad either. I think that the good times in my life have all been when I was surrounded by my family.

Good is sleeping late with my hubby :)
ReplyDeleteGood Folks is gorgeous.. I'm so excited about it :)
Service to someone else.
ReplyDeletewhenever I hear the word "good" I think of my kids behavior, lol... which is usually NOT "good". like all kids, my kids can get rather wound up at times, especially now with winter in full swing and cabin fever setting in. oh how I wish they would be "good".
ReplyDeleteGood is comfort and knowledge of doing well by yourself and others.
ReplyDeleteAnd good things are those that give you warm fuzzies, whether it be an act, some yummy chocolate dipped raspberries, or beauty.

ReplyDeleteOh lord I'm in love with the Byzantine group. It's everything I love about fabric, the brilliant florals that are elegant and detailed without being too busy. A small gathering and fortune are some of the most beautiful fabric I've seen in a while.

"Good" is the precious baby growing inside me!
ReplyDelete15 weeks and counting <3
good is a clean house! (i have 5 kids and really took for granted a clean house!!)
ReplyDeleteGood is hitting the skatepark at dawn before anyone else has arrived, with a tumbler of coffee and a busy mind ready to be calmed. Good is the serene calm of that skatepark at sunrise, the mediation of carving the bowls and ramps in silence with only your wheels and a few birds for a soundtrack. Good is when your friends wander in (with their tumblers of coffee and their busy minds) and you catch up for a moment or two before returning to your hectic day.
ReplyDeleteGood is seeing the world in all it's beauty and color. This collection and the story behind it makes me smile.

Good...hmmm, what first comes to mind is food. And I'm talkin' grandma's to good to be true home-cookin. Also, when I think *good* I think of God. There's no way getting around that one.
ReplyDeleteGood--- is the sweet little hugs and smiles you get from little ones when you are a teacher...and it doesn't hurt when after a long and exhausting day you come home to a boyfriend who has already ordered take out for dinner and washed your clothes. Yes, I have been lucky enough to experience this type of "good" a few times. :) The new collection is amazing! I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

When I think of good, I think of sitting on the couch, while it snows outside, and having my little dog curl up on my lap with me while I read.
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGood things in my world come in soft furry ears, cold wet noses, heads that turn from side to side with inquisitiveness, the art of giving a belly rub, gifts of licks, sneaking a furry companion in bed next to you when the husband's away, howling to the sound of a harmonica, sitting still for hours in your roll as someone else's pillow, starting the day with the feel of a breath rather than the sound of an alarm, and walking every single day no matter what the weather.
Ahhhhh, that felt good.
Good is eating a bowl of my mom's homemade borscht on a cold winters day while smelling the buns baking in the oven.
