Anything + Honey

anything+honey

At the risk of my cravings and your generous outpouring of soup recipes deeming this a food blog, I shall point you to a new favorite breakfast. Mint tea, with honey. Toast with butter and honey. Pretty much anything with honey. But particularly this bread which is the Organic Seduction (really?) Bread from Whole Foods. I did not name that bread. And I did not eat said bread prior to arriving in my current condition. But I do think that with my fav owl mugs and the clover honey that we could aptly name this sweet meal the Birds & Bees Breakfast, no? Yes, lets. And don't let this shot of one slice fool you into thinking you know what goes on over here.

And those soup recipes! I need a keyboard wet-vac to clean off all the salivating that I've done for the past week. And Jeff (and anyone within a 6 mile radius) needs ear plugs to manage my constant rambling on over this or that soup recipe. Man. Not allowed to say soup again. Ever. Though I shall be announcing a random winner the moment my new kitchen goods arrive (hopefully this week ~ as well as the restocking of current goods-so sorry for the long wait to all you customers who've been asking!), I am thinking I made out pretty cheaply on paying for soup recipes. So I am working on a little gift for all of you that might help you work some of these wonderful recipes into a homemade gift for loved ones. I am mostly glad that we can all feast on these delicious offerings!

More soon, good Wednesday, xoxox, Anna

I am eating honey on 9 grain as we speak! My favorite breakfast hands down, but it's even more delicious with a banana sliced on top (ever so slightly green, as the honey adds the sweetness)...

Can't wait to see all the new goodies you have in store!

  2. I fell in love with this type of breakfast when I lived in Paris, and I still eat it today.

It's simple and soothing and civilized.

And don't forget that your #1 honey gave up two bites of HIS toast with honey this morning to share the wonderment...

...lest everyone think that you come up with all this on your own ;)

Those owl mugs are just beautiful. I love honey too especially with a big bowl of greek yoghurt. Also honey drizzled on walnut bread is gorgeous too.

  5. Where did you get the owl mugs from?

Sounds like a lovely breakfast! I'm partial to crackers with natural peanut butter and honey for a mid-afternoon snack! :-)

  8. I'm a big green tea fan myself, but I'm going to give this tea and this luscious sounding bread a try. Thank you so much for all you do! You are such an amazing woman. I'm so excited for your new fabric line "good folks." Everything you do turns out so beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  9. That does look tasty!!

Just wanted to say that I enjoyed getting to meet you briefly and have my book signed at Textile Fabrics last weekend. I've found a little time to read and "remember" alot of things I forgot I knew! :)

As for those soup recipes. I've already copied and pasted them into the beginnings of a holiday project that my family has done for the past I guess 5 years, and that's a holiday cookbook we sorta "publish" and give to teachers, aunts, neighbors. My kids do the artwork for the covers and "dividers", always a hit and now "expected".

    Thanks!

  10. Well, having been a beekeeper for many years, I have to agree that honey is the most amazing sweetener. I'm partial to blackberry honey myself, but it is so dark (and relatively rare) that it is difficult to find. Of course my bees made blackberry honey by the gallon because of where we live. AHHHH... SUMMER! So delicious!

Your current condition? Are you pregnant?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I was going to ask if I had missed an announcement. Are you expecting? How exciting!

We keep bees and the honey is wonderful! There is nothing like raw, local honey.

  13. Both because I love Van Morrison and because I love honey: my fave is Tupelo. Such depth! Such sweetness!

    Yum.

  14. Oooh, our local, lovely Kallas Honey Farm has Whipped Honey. You can just spread it right on, like honey butter, only no butter. Mmmmm, mmmm good. I have like 10 jars of honey in the cupboard at any one time.

  15. I know It reminds me of those wonderful memories with my grandfather. He had a sweet tooth and would pour honey on bread and have it as dessert.

    ReplyDelete
  16. When you say "current condition", what exactly does that mean?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi All- yes Expecting #6 here and managed to sneak in that announcement at the end of a post a few posts ago....

  18. Don't forget about the new Trader Joe's! They actually have a big carton of mesquite honey from the desert southwest that I can't wait to try. Their breads are amazing too. Yay for TJs.

And yay for your book signing! I love my new book, and you are really as nice as I thought you'd be. Hope you sold out, and that you had a great day at Textile.

ps. My hubby snarfed the snicker doodles!

  20. Yummm.... I've always loved crusty-grainy toast with butter and honey (or sometimes peanut or almond butter and honey- the nut butter melts into the bread like the butter does). I also sometimes replace the honey with Agave nectar. Also YUM. I'm not a fan of honey in my tea though. Have you tried Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane? (Holiday green tea with mint) It is excellent. Since it is a seasonal release, I hoard boxes of it to last all year and drink it cold all summer.

You MUST be having a boy! I just had my 3rd(and last:o) child, and I could not get enough honey. I didn't experience that with my other two children (a girl and a boy). I had toast and honey every day!! So I am officially making my prediction now...you are having a boy.
    Good Luck with everything!

  22. My father comes from a village in Arcadia. Some 30 years ago I paid my first and only visit to Tripoli. On the square there was this old fashioned "kafeneio" with tall, grey doors. We sat at a table outside and we asked for breakfast.
What we got was an oval dish of butter rectangles, (the so-called Kerkyra type)with honey topping them, forming a little golden brown lake around them.
We were at loss on how to eat this. The owner looked at us and came to the rescue. With expert hands he mixed butter and honey. then took bite size pieces of bread (the handmade, heavy kind) and with the knife put a hazelnut-size bit on each bite.
It is now gone down to family history as The Peloponnesian Breakfast.
    Here, yours to enjoy!

  23. funny thing about honey, my mom used it all the time for our pancakes and waffles. i didn't know about maple syrup until i was 13...

do you think we could bug you to do a christmas segment? due to ever increasing tight budgets, a lot of us are going to be handcrafting our gifts and could use some anna inspiration. thanks!

  26. I must say Anna Maria that I have already been given a gift from your soup post. I made two pots this week from recipes left by others! So Yummy!

I am anxiously awaiting my signed copy of Seams to Me to arrive any day! :-) I can't wait!

  30. Just realised I missed breakfast - honey on toast methinks! Have ordered your book from the library - they hadn't made the decision to purchase so it will be a long wait...!!!!! Don't they visit Amazon!? On the upside I'll be the first to get it all crispy and new! Hurrah! t.x

  31. I know that I have asked you where you park your invisible jet once before...you make my eyes water when I think about how much you must pack into each and every day as it is...now another little hand to hold. Amazing.

  32. Yummm...this brings back lovely childhood memories!!

  33. I live two doors down from my local honey man. When I need new, I take my washed jar over and he fills it at discount. I usually buy raw honey, which is thicker and somewhat opaque. Arizona honey is thicker than a lot of other honey anyway because this is desert territory, even if a mountain top desert. Perhaps I should send you some.

  36. I love peanut butter and honey on dark pumpernickel toast with a little bit of ground nutmeg on top. The nutmeg makes the honey taste sweeter and the rye taste more sour. It's awesome!

  37. I think toast and honey has to be one of my favorite things in the whole world!

Hmmmm honey, but it does have a high sugar content. Brown rice syrup and barley malt are my new favorites. They are milder in sweetness, but much better for overall health.
