The BIG DEBATE~ Do I go with a magenta Sharpie or a black Sharpie to sign all the books that'll be flying outta here any day? Oh, the agony. The books are getting here sooner than anticipated, and some people are already getting theirs from Amazon and Barnes & Noble ahead of the official publication date. And not that I'm a poll watcher or anything (that would be my husband) but Seams To Me has been the #1 seller on Amazon in the sewing category for several days now. I can't believe it! Wowwee. N'kay, nuff book bragging, let me brag about something else....

The BIG VOTE~ A group from my Garden Party Home Goods collection has been nominated for Best New Color Story by Textiles Today TiA Awards. So power to the people! You can go vote for my collection here (or one of the other nominees if you so chose...but, come on).
So what debates, polls & votes did you think I was talking about?
(although, doesn't watching those other debates make you want to play with Sharpies!?)
good weekend pals, lots of sewing to do here!
xo,Anna
I love color and so I would say sign in Magenta! Congratulations on your book being such a big success.
ReplyDeleteHrm... they definitely make me want to play with something sharp...
ReplyDeleteAs for your big debate: I say go with the magenta!
Magenta, of course!
ReplyDeleteBest new color story... and you are debating between black and magenta?
ReplyDeleteMagenta for sure.

ReplyDeletelooooove the rug - mmm... gorgeous!
Congratulations - Cast another vote for magenta!
ReplyDeleteS.W.A.K.
www.CuteStuffInside.blogspot.com
And another vote for magenta...I'm seeing a trend here!
ReplyDeletemagenta for sure! way fun & bright!!
ReplyDeletejust got some of your pink & red fabric & looooove it. i'd love to cover a whole room in it (think my hubby will go for it??!).
ps - hoping to come see you when you're here in houston :)
What a thrill! My book was #1 in sewing on Amazon for about a day and I made a screen grab to commemorate it.. :)
ReplyDeleteI love magenta!
Magenta:) Such a beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteHi, Patchworksail@comcast.net here, I bought your book am awaiting it's arrival, looking at the post every day!!!!So as creative as u r, perhaps sign in black, top with red heart????or red curvy line-thing under your name !
ReplyDeleteHip-Hip HOORAY!! I'm so proud of you. Well, I guess I'm the only one who says sign in black, but magenta works too. By the way, I voted for your color story; it was definitely the best.
ReplyDeletejust placed my vote....its for magenta.....everything looks sooooo lovely....
ReplyDeletevintagesweetpeas..blogspot.com
That's great, Anna-Maria! Sadly I'll have to get mine from Amazon. I'd love to have my copy signed from you, but postage doubles the price!
ReplyDeleteI vote for magenta. So glad you called it magenta, I just CANNOT vote red this year! (Obama Blue all the way!)
ReplyDeleteI think you should mix it up and use both magenta and black. I'll take mine in magenta when I win the sweepstakes of course!
ReplyDeleteBlack is classic...but magenta is unique...I can picture you a little of both! I have your new book on my wish list...mabye a good gift idea from by hubby for christmas...awww!
ReplyDeleteI am excited about your new book, and cannot wait until my copy arrives. My wonderful hubby ordered it for me, but he cannot keep a secret very well. ;)
ReplyDeleteoh...I forgot to vote...
ReplyDeleteMagenta!
I love the color story it looks great. I was wondering if you will be at market signing books? I would love to get a signed copy but I would also love a chance to meet you! If you are not doing a book signing hopefully I will run into you sometime anyway.
ReplyDeleteMy vote would always go to YOU! So excited about all of the things going on in your business world (or should I say busy-world).
ReplyDeleteSign with the magenta, it's more you! :D Congrats on the top seller for the book already! That's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI'm also voting for magenta!
ReplyDeleteI like the classic look, it never goes out or fades with the times, black is the choice for me.
ReplyDeleteStand out from the crowd and go with Magenta!
ReplyDeletecongratulations that's flipping fantastic!!! I can't wait to get a copy of my book and from the reaction on my blog about the book I most want to read I know alot of other people are excited too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Anna! I like Magenta - I can hardly wait to get my book :) bless your poor hand!
ReplyDeleteI like magenta, and I saw a couple of copies of the book on the shelf at my local Borders on Wednesday--it went onto my birthday/Xmas wish list!
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
Been reading this blog since summer and never commented before. Actually received your book YESTERDAY!!! Read it cover to cover during the girls nap time. The only reason I'm not sewing now is that my machine is broken. Thank you for inspiring me!
ReplyDeletethey have lots of colors in the sharpie markers, you should sign it in a deep orange or bright pink just like the colors in your fabric. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Let us know if you go on Martha again, i don't want to miss it. :)
Congratulations that your book is selling so well. I pre-ordered mine a few weeks ago and I can't wait to get my official "signed" copy. I'm hoping you choose the magenta sharpie.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Shannon
I guess everyone is for the magenta including me!
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Houston.
libertythreads@charter.net
yeah, I noticed the sharpie thing, too. I'm asking for the mega-multi pack for Christmas. Congrats on your own election news!
ReplyDeleteAnna
absolutely, you must choose a colorful sharpie (though i'd go with the one that is the green in your fabrics if you decide against magenta) to sign the millions of books with :O) as soon as i'm all moved into my new home, i will be ordering my own signed copy from your webstore. i hope there are still copies left!
ReplyDeletehugs! God bless you!
susan
I just got your book today and I LOVE it!!! Too bad it won't be signed by you, but I can't wait to try some of the fun projects. The pages and photos are just lovely!
ReplyDeleteVirginia in Canada
Well if I had a book and I was going to sign copies I would use RED! I say go with the Magenta - afterall someone is nominating you for Best New Color Story! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI voted for you! I can't wait to get my book, I pre-ordered it from Amazon but I was ordering other stuff and told it to combine shipping, now I shall sit on my hands and wail in agony because other people are getting their eye prints all over reading material that I should be getting MY eye prints all over, tee hee. :)
ReplyDeleteEither color sharpies rock~~~~ I just voted for you :O)
ReplyDeleteCongratulaions on your success. I'm thinking Magenta sharpie.
ReplyDeleteWow, in one week I've cast my vote for president and your collection on the other site, and now for Magenta. I feel so empowered! =)
ReplyDeleteI got my book yesterday. It's great! I vote for magenta.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what color you sign mine, just PLEASE HURRY!!! I can't take the anticipation any longer!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I was going to vote for black but as I am typing, I'm feeling more magenta. Add me to the list of magenta votes. I can't wait to get my copy! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteJust got back from a fall visit to NY and guess what was waiting by the door...your book! Can't wait to dive in.
ReplyDeleteHolley
I don't know about "magenta" doesn't it seem too teachery to you? I know that's not a word. Red writing reminds me of getting papers marked in college though. But the book looks amazing and you're creative so no matter how you sign it I'm sure it'll turn out wonderful:-) Is it just me and my computer or is the sweepstakes site not working anymore?
ReplyDeleteI'd say go with 'magenta'! I can't wait to get my copy! I was in my local B&N and saw your beautiful book on their shelves! I hesitated, but did not peek! I'm waiting for my copy. I want to sit alone with a big cuppa tea and just enjoy the beauty of your new book! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteMagenta is the new black! Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteMagenta all the way!
ReplyDeleteBlack is same ole same ole!
Congratulations on the success of your book!
I actually read somewhere that you should never sign a book in black because it makes it look like it's a stamp or printed so I'd say the magenta
ReplyDeletemagenta!! Is it still time to order a signed book from you?
ReplyDeleteA big congrats on the book, Anna Maria! I can't wait to get my copy! Sign in magenta...live on the edge! xoxo Amy in Missouri!
ReplyDeletecongrats! did you get ANY votes on black?! :) (I think magenta too, but then, I would hope it didn't fade over time..)
ReplyDeleteI just played a little blogging game called YOU'RE IT and I kinda wanted YOU to be it with the new book out and all. :) If you check out my little blog, you'll see the rules (only four) and if you have time, I would be very interested in knowing seven facts about YOU! :)
now, I do understand that you have a million comments on your blog every post.. and all that signing for the books.. (are you still able to buy signed copies?) so I can understand if you dont play the game.. but maybe as an idea one day to throw out there some facts about you?! :)
hi.
ReplyDeletejust wanted to tell you that i got to see your fabrics in person for the first time this weekend.
they are so beautiful.
i just stood there. touching. staring. studying.
they are amazing.
and i wanted you to know. :)
So pretty Anna,
ReplyDeletelove pinks, yellows, oranges, together.
Lovely image of your work
Do they make Sharpies in brown?
ReplyDeleteYay for you! Can't wait to get my signed book and see which sharpie you chose - but I bet it's the magenta...
ReplyDeleteJust FYI, the link to the sweepstakes doesn't work. I tried it yesterday and again today and it says page cannot be displayed. I've been registering everyday and all of a sudden it doesn't work. Just thought you should know....
ReplyDeleteI had problems with the sweepstakes page too. Guess we overwhelmed the Wiley people.:)
ReplyDeleteHey, whatever color you have at hand works for me! Sharpie, crayon, or eye pencil.......... So looking forward to getting my book!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the book. What a great feeling this must be for you.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is Magenta.
These photos are lovely and all the colors are so vibrant and delicious..
I like the magenta sharpie! LOL! I can't wait to get my copy of the book!
ReplyDeleteAnna, take a minute to come visit my blog I have tagged you.
ReplyDeleteDon't be silly!! Pick the magenta :)
ReplyDeleteI saw your book at the Barnes and Noble yesterday and I didn't even leaf through it because I am SOOOOO excited to do that with my cup of tea and in-progress quilt on my lap when it comes in the mail...
ReplyDeleteSigned by you in MAGENTA! :)
I'm on the magenta train too! I just can't wait till my copy gets here! Also, took a sneak peak at JCaroline, the couch is done and it looks super wonderful! Enjoy market!
ReplyDeletegot your book on Monday and I'm really enjoying it! Can't wait to get started on some of the tips and lessons! I'm determined to teach myself to sew and this will be a huge help to me.
ReplyDeleteI've signed up for a (beginners) quilting course, and am so excited to finally be able to use some of your Garden Party fabrics.
Your enthusiasm and joy you bring via your blog for crafting has totally and completely inspired me. Thank you!
Have a beautiful day!
Francesca
p.s. I say use the black for your signature (timeless and classic, and let the colours of your pages shine.
Love your stuff. How cool is that to have a book. I need to get a copy for me. I know my girls would love your fabrics and projects.
ReplyDeleteHaha! You totally got me with the title. I was thinking, "SURELY she's not getting political on her blog." ;-)
ReplyDeleteI vote for magenta. As colorful as you and your designs are, it's only fitting that you use something besides basic black.
did you ever consider that signing in red/ magenta is bad luck??
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSandra
Magenta, of course!
ReplyDeleteI ran into your book tonight at Barnes & Noble...Oh, my goodness. it makes me itchy to start sewing!
Hmm, both? I had no idea you live in Nashville. I live 30 miles southeast....can u guess where?
ReplyDeleteLove your fabrics...can't wait to buy your book!
Wow! Your book arrived today (via Amazon as I pre-ordered it, and one for my friend for Xmas, too) and it is BRILLIANT!
ReplyDeleteWell done you.
oops, I forgot to vote!
ReplyDeleteMAGENTA
of course
Hello Anna , I got my book today signed in magenta :) Very nice, very nice, still looking through it , looks like lots of projects to make ,and then I will read word for word..Thank you Patchworksail@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteI GOT MY BOOK!!! Thank you so much! Magenta was a very nice choice. I was so happy to see it signed! Thank you:) I can't put it down.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Thanita
magenta is totally "you!"
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see the book...
I got mine two days ago from Amazon!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations,....it´s all adorable and beautiful, and I tottaly loved all the advices and tips!!!
:( I already got my book.... but I would vote for black because I'm not fond of colored ink. Gosh I didn't know I had a pet peeve about colored ink! Just in printing. Though I love brown ink. So there... I'm not completely biased towards one color!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award!! You deserve it more than anyone I know. When I think color, I think about you! Then Rubyellen at Cakies... do you know her? You two would get along fabulously!
I received my beautiful book yesterday. I love it so very much! I practically sleep with it... I just can't put it down. And, I'm happy to see that you went with the pink sharpie.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Shannon

I think magenta would be perfect. Congrats to you! I've been entering the contest almost daily--I had a four days of forgetting darn it! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah! I love my book and am glad you went with magenta. :) I am SOOOOOO nervous, but am going to try a project from the book. Hopefully I won't mess up. You've inspired me to TRY!
ReplyDeleteI got my book on Saturday and I absolutely LOVE it!!!! Congrats on a beautiful and fun book. I'm spending my afternoon today sipping tea and reading my copy - I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteMagenta! It's so YOU!
ReplyDeleteI have just been brave and designed a bag using your Bohemian fabrics.
If you have time you can see the bag on my blog.
www.elefantz.blogspot.com
I'm in Australia and am waiting for your book to arrive at my door! Congratsssss!!!!
My book showed up just in time for my bday today (complete with magenta signature). (Also, I, apparently, almost had two copies as my mother-in-law ordered one too but she had to call and cancel her order)
ReplyDeleteIts simply beautiful and the greatest bday gift I could think of. You did an amazing job--Congrats, Anna Maria.
I wanted to tell you what a real delight is was to meet you in at Quilt Market in Houston. (Not sure if you remember me, I was the one that commented to you that I love the dog bed instructions that include "one dog". ) And I love, love, love the new book. Read it on the car ride all the way home to Austin. So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteYour booth looked beautiful and the new collection is amazing. I CANNOT WAIT for the fabrics to start shipping. It's going to be such fun working them into my pillows.
As always, beautiful work!

A previous commenter said red means bad luck; the explanation is that in many Asian cultures, signing one's name in red means death.
ReplyDeleteLovely things!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
Lena
Well, looks like you chose the magenta! Thank you so much for personally autographing my book, the recipient is going to be very surprised and happy!
ReplyDeleteI received your book last week, ordered from Amazon Canada and I'm loving it. Congratulations on such a wonderful and brilliant project! Heather
ReplyDeleteHi! Your book is on my Christmas list! I am sure it is full of GORGEOUS things!! I'm hoping to get sewing with some of your fabric soon. (AS soon as we are finished moving). OH, by the way - magenta would have been my choice in pens!!!
ReplyDeleteJ'aime beaucoup les couleurs de ces coussins
ReplyDeletePascale
