There, that's Better

better.blossoms

Hullo.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

As August approaches I wanted to mention a mention that many of you have already mentioned to me! (hi, thanks!) Better Homes & Gardens did a little Stylemaker blurb on me in their August issue and I am more than honored to be part of such a favorite magazine. And a very pretty issue at that! While the mag feature is just one page, from there they cue a 16 page slideshow a la Moi at their website that points to several of my free patterns, products, that many of you dedicated (sweetly wonderful) readers are familiar with. But a bonus is that it also points to the "blossom" pin cushion pattern that I did for their Quilts and More publication this spring, making it available to any of you who missed that issue. Hooray! I've added the slideshow link to my sidebar over there for you.

I've been working on several new little projects that'll be available to you here soon, one of them being a step-by-step for the fabric covered magazine organizer boxes shown in the article. I also have two new projects brewing that are perfect for your scrap box.

In other news, my dear Nicolas just told me that it costs 2 cents to make a penny. He's usually right about such things and both the idea of it and him sharing it made me laugh.

xoxo,AM

  2. Hi!
My bundle of Garden Party fabrics arrived last week and I'm having so much fun just unfolding and arranging the fabric and looking at the BEAUTIFUL colors that I haven't made anything yet. Guess I better get over to the slideshow and get some ideas. So far, covering pillows and stretching fabric over canvases is what's popped into my head....can't wait to see your ideas.

  3. Believe it or not, it actually does cost more than a penny to make a penny right now. Not quite 2 cents (funny kid!!!).

That was a pretty cool slideshow! What great advertising for you. I have made two flower pincushions so far, and I love that pattern. They're so adorable. At first I was hesitant, but I just dove right in and had fun making them. Thank you!

  9. Hmm, we recently had the penny conversation at our house. Your son must be around 8 yrs old?

  13. I was visiting with some out-of-town friends this weekend and introducing them to Etsy and several of my favorite designers/crafters. I mentioned you, Amy Butler, Denyse Schmidt, Heather Bailey, etc. Five minutes later, one of the girls is flipping through BH&G and says, "Hey, is this that girl you were just talking about?" That one page netted you a new fan in Tucson. She's thinking about doing some fabric silhouettes as artwork for her bathroom. Thanks for the inspiration.

  20. Congrats on the BH&G writeup! How wonderful that you're getting "face time" in so many venues! :) Tonight, I'm actually borrowing your idea of having a child sew the outline of preprinted fabric in order to teach my 5 year old how to sew. She is so excited! If you have any other child-friendly projects that you've done with your children, I'd love to see them!
