A dress and it's designer

one.dress.finished

my.collaborator

I love them both.

These aren't the final ad shots, but we did get that done. In the nick of time, naturally. Designed it, she did. Now if I could just get her to not surf on my computer while I'm drafting the pattern she might learn a little more. Not complaining. I do have to say something mom-like.

Have a Bright and Beautiful Easter. Eastern Orthodox Easter is still a few weeks away for us, but I will be thinking of many of you out there cracking eggs and celebrating renewal!

love, Anna

The dress, the fabric and Juliana are all beautiful. The basket of flowers motif is great--I really, really want some of that fabric!
Congrats on getting it all done.

Beautiful, beautiful -- both of them of course.

Please!! Please tell us that there is a way for us to get the pattern. I can't express how much I truly adore the dress.

Congratulations Julianna!

That dress (and the lovely model) is GORGEOUS!! Will there be a pattern?!? It is too cool.

That dress is gorgeous! And so is the fabric. And the model :)

That dress is really beautiful and chic. The fabric simply makes the dress. What I noticed is the small "V" notch. That must have been a little difficult to get just right (snipping, trimming, turning, pressing). The effect is simply wonderful.

I'm nominating Juliana for the next round of project runway.

Ahhh- to be that young and beautiful! What I wouldn't give! She has so much out there just waiting for her to come and get it. I know you are proud... and you should be!
Congrats to you both for a job well done!

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed your blog since coming upon it a week ago. The first day I ordered your fabric, and I've already put it to good use. You truly give me inspiration to follow my dreams, which include writing, crafting, sewing and having lots of kids! :) So far, though, I only have the first three things in production. Thanks for all of you openness in sharing about your life. What an inspiration.

Oh, and the dress and daughter - perfection!

Many thanks,
Jill O'Hanlon

The model and dress are beautiful. It made me think of the years my mother made all my sisters and my clothes. Only I wasn't a talented designer like Juliana.

I also love how you photographed it on the couch covered with my favorite fabric from your new line. You inspire me!

Gorgeous dress (and designer)! You are such a talented family! That fabric is perfectly lined up...and just the touch of black. Question: what shoes would you wear with a dress like this?

Happy Easter in a few weeks to you, too. Some Greek friends of ours are celebrating the Orthodox holiday with a lamb roast. I can't wait!

Julianna, very nice job on the dreaming, designing and an eye for the details like the black piping and the v-slit on the bodice. Now, if you watch your mom make the pattern out of it you are really off like a rocket! :o)
Anna Maria, I think this fabric is my absolute favorite..but, that may not be entirely true as I dont have all of the others in front of me right now. LOL!

Wowsers. I don't know who I'm more impressed with, your daughter for designing the dress or you for being able to sew it up. It's really gorgeous..umm has that word been used too much already? O.k. then it's splendiferous!
I also like the sofa/chair she is sitting on, do I recognize your new fabric there too? It must be exciting to see your designs come to live in projects...cool!

(I've ready your blog for quite a while but don't think I ever commented, have got behind and just been catching up. So glad to be back reading this blog and feeling uplifted, inspired and wondering how I could manage to get a fraction of the amount done that you do!)

Hi Anna Maria,
I so totally enjoyed your interview @ CraftSanity. It was very cool to hear all of your thoughts and answers to some of those very well thoughtout questions.
I was in the middle of some sewing disaster that I had to sort out and your interview was just what I needed to help me complete the task at hand. I loved how you shared your kind of thought process on desiging fabric and all that goes into it.
I was especially encouraged by what you said about blogs and comments... I seem to blog to the air without many comments but I know they will come - maybe I should do a giveaway.
Great interview - loved it!!

Wow, so where'd you pick up the pattern making skills? I don't think they teach that in art school. I have a degree in fashion design and I could do that at one point....ok, well, I was better at draping than pattern making. Anyway, so wonderful that you have a partner in crime...a lovely talent and model. I'm the only girl in my house!
