I'd like to make a toast!

Winter.breakfast

I opened my eyes earlier than I wanted to Saturday morning only to see a proud expectant smile on Isabela's sweet bubbly face.

"MaaAAAAooooomy. I made breakfast for you and DaaaaAAAiiddy. Get out of bed and come see! Come on, get up!"

So with equal parts too-tired-to-fight-her-off and how-precious-is-this-? I stumbled out of my warm spot and across my cold wooden floor, into slippers, across the studio, through the dining room and into the bright kitchen. I had to search through squinted eyes for a minute scanning through the previous night's dinner dishes to find this friendly feast awaiting us.

And there they were. Mr. and Mrs. Owlcups with Swiss Miss shoved in their heads and a plate of 7 perfectly toasted slices of bread. As the smile on my mouth formed and before I could breathe out a groggy thank you, she told me she didn't do the cocoa yet becuase she wasn't sure if Mr. and Mrs. Owlcups could go in the microwave.

Raise your cocoa mugs my friends. A toast: To darling children who want to make us breakfast and to young women everywhere who have respect for dishware.

Cheers, xoAM

Sooo Cute! It's so sweet when our kiddies do such sweet things for no reason....just cause they love us. I awoke one early morning to a note placed on my face that read: "Don't get out of bed...we have a surprise for you." Breakfast in bed, complete with my fav magazine "Cottage Living", a vase with a dried flower from who-knows-where and a note on my paper napkin "We love you". Gosh! that's when you know you're doing something right.

  45. So sweet! Your mugs remind me of the mugs my siblings and I used to have when we were little. They were mice and my mom had hand painted them and added our initial to the front belly. Unfortunately my mug broke, but I'm pretty sure that my brother and sister's mugs are still being enjoyed by their kids!
I know your super busy, but I would love to know where your owl mugs!

  46. Hi there...I had seen these mugs at anthropologie, but Juliana bought them for us from the little giftshop where she works here in Nashville for Christmas. I would pass along that info, but I don't think they have any left. I think Isaw some S&P shakers that are owls at anthro....but not mugs. Sorry!
