Just the six of us

In case you think I don't leave the studio I thought I should share proof. I carted 5 children to track and soccer yesterday and employed all the usual accomplices to keep everyone happy...overpriced concession stand stuff. It was a rare day that I actually had cash in my wallet, and no time to pack anything. Well, okay , no time is not rare.

I guess you usually don't see those boys do you? Oh they're always here. Just not modeling the latest Chocolate Lollipop fancy. I can usually feel people looking at us amused when they see us file into anywhere all in a long seemingly endless row of children. Definitely felt that yesterday placing the orders at the concession stand, finding a spot to settle, then beginning the 10 minute opening of all the drinks and snacks.

Isabela has become quite the goalie, barely letting a thing by her. She doesn't miss a thing. She's always been like that.

Juliana has got her 1/2 mile down to well under 3 minutes. Which coincidentally is the same amount of time it has taken her to grow from a baby to a 15 year old track star. The track is not a place to be caught out of style however. I'm not sure she would run if there weren't a totally cool shoe purchase in the deal.

And there's a portrait of me. My Chan Luu bag and a kid bottle of Gatorade. Kinda sums it up. That is my favorite bag, but it's seen better days. I've been thinking lately I should try to make one similar, with all those weird little crafty additions. It's just plain silly and beautiful all at once. I love it.

That was tuesday, hope you're having a good wednesday. xoxo, Anna

  2. Super cool shoes -- super cool bag. I too live at the ball field/school other kids activities. And I have paid my share to overpriced concession stands. I love the inspiration I find here.

  3. My best friend has five children and spends her days at the track too! And my son has found his favorite position as soccer goalie this season. Funny how we all live parallel lives! But how you find the time to be so productive around all this activity impresses me to no end! You're my hero Anna Maria!!!

  4. Love the bag, love the shoes, and am looking forward to days at the track and soccer field. I just hope I can be half as creative and productive as you are while doing it!

  5. What a nice Tuesday! I can't wait for my little one to have extra activities after school (she's only two). We have dance on Sat. mornings for now... which is so fun to watch. Enjoy these moments!

  7. I know what you mean about the shoes. I don't think Josh would play soccer if it didn't involve outdoor shoes, indoor shoes, and turf shoes, all in one year and all $100-$200. They get SO expensive when they start realizing that Target is not the coolest place to shop.

  9. I don't know how you can do track AND soccer in the same day. My 10th grader's track meets wipe me out! WTG on the great time and a big thumbs up to your superstar goalie, too.

BTW, my fave quilt store in Atlanta had your gorgeous new goodies when I popped in today. I'm not admitting how much yardage came home with me, though! LOL!

  11. I come from a family of eight kids, and when we would file into a restaurant/hotel/anywhere, all the heads would bop up and down as they counted the seeming "millions" of children. As the fifteen-year-old oldest, it was humiliating. Now it's just funny.

  12. AM, they have them in stock at Intown Quilters in Atlanta. Comparing the online catalog at Free Spirit with my memory of what's at the store, I think there are a couple of colorways missing in a couple prints, but it may just be that I was distracted by my 2.5yo running around like a maniac with a truck. Just snapped some pics to add to my blog. I think they're even prettier in person -- and I was pretty excited by the pics you've posted. Still need to decide what I'm making. Definitely clothes for the little missy and a purty thing or two for me.

  13. Wow, you sure have your hands full!! How do you do it? I don't have any children and yet I feel like I'm not getting much accomplished. Love your site!! It's so feminine and pretty!

  17. The bag is rad. I'm hearing ya on getting looks from people when out with 5 kids. People look at me like I am crazy, and strangers ask the funniest questions.. Lucky that food can keep them happy when waiting around!

  19. Ah!... yes. I totally understand. We took our brood of five out to dinner tonight and the wait guy who was oh so very nice was still a bit stunned that they were all ours not to mention that dinner out cost $161~~~ It was a great dinner but dang... $161 could have bought a whole lot of fabric! ~wink~

  20. I have three already and one more on the way. Around here any more then two seems to turn heads so three makes them look then when they see my belly poking out with number 4 they get "the look". Sometimes I think that it is admiration and other times they look at me like I'm in some strange cult or something! I don't care, we love kids so we are having another. It's great to watch you with your crew it gives me hope on the days I feel overwhelmed.
