a.k.a. Pops

A good dose of real life never hurt anyone. How's this for a fast-paced, hi-tech, uber-fashionable design studio?

This is the lovely view every morning here. This is office casual. It's the standard dress code for all employees of the studio. Pajamas. And grandpa pajamas too. Jeff's grandma gave us all of these barely used pajamas thinking Jeff might wear them. I tried not to jump when she presented us with the stack, for fear of completely freaking her out. I had those things home and in the wash faster than you can say notched collar piping. Seven sets! And they're the swank Ward Cleaver kind too. Jeff has affectionately nicknamed me Pops.

Do you get dressed if you're not going anywhere?

xo, Pops

  1. Too cool! I thought I was the only one hanging around in my pj's until all hours of the day. They're sooo comfy!

  2. I always get dressed right away in the morning (as she types in her pajamas at 10:11 a.m.)

I live in fear of parcels being delivered and neighbors needing cups of sugar.

I haven't mustered up the courage to answer the door in my jammies yet.

  3. You know, the only downside to wearing pajamas all day are the people who come to the door for one reason or another. Do you frantically pull on a pair of jeans and a sweater or brave it and answer in those comfy pajamas? I'm still undecided.

  4. love it, but this is my morning: i was happily "working" in my casual work attire (pink flannel with salt, pepper and fried eggs on them)when the meter maid knocked on the door - worst part, i know her from my kids school, agh. this is probably why my kids think i don't work...

  5. oh no, it sounds even worse! that's a pink flannel print - not my actual breakfast food on my p.j.'s - what do you take me for!?

  6. Suffice it to say, the UPS man has seen every almost every set of pajamas I own. I imagine he thinks all those boxes (of design samples) are actually filled with new sets of pajamas. He also knows I have 5 kids and helped me hide the Christmas gifts around back when they were delivered. I think he gets it.
confessions of BUMS! I love it!

i actually don't get dressed until after i've driven the kids to school. so i'm sure i was an interesting sight shuffling into walgreens this morning to pick a few things up in my pj's. i share your love of the ward cleaver pj's though--they're just so comfy!

  8. I am a get dressed right away type gal. If I stay in my PJ's I just get lazy. HOWEVER, I am very quick to jump into the jammies directly afterwork while I cook dinner and sew. That is my jammie time. Plus, everyone randomly stops by in the evening, so when they see me in my PJ's they assume they need to be quick because I'm getting ready for bed (at 6:00 pm. haha. maybe in the winter).

  9. I work from home too (though not, sadly, as an artist - not yet) and I wear jammies all day. I sleep in a T-shirt so I actually get up and shower and put on a fresh pair of jammies. The UPS guy has seen them all. It's so bad that if my daughter sees me in pants, she asks where we're going. I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

  10. Oh gosh - I love my pajamas. I've taken it a step further. I've worn them out, sigh. Usually to the grocery store when I just don't feel like making an effort, but I throw a sweater on over the pj top. And I've definitely seen people I know whilst doing this and felt like a total idiot. Does that stop me? No!

*Annnnnnd it's past one in the afternoon and I am typing in my pjs.*

  11. oh! i love those kind of pajamas! i found a pair like that but in the cutest candy-colored stripes once (obviously for women). i don't know what i'll do when they wear out. i wear the men's ones, too, tho. especially as women's are usually way too short for my long legs.

back to the question at hand. i wear pjs all day long. and i do answer the door in them. i only get dressed when it's time to pick kids up from school or if i have to go somewhere. :)

  12. I'll admit I'm sitting here in pink jammie pants with preppy green turtles on them. I wear a t-shirt with them and usually crocs. I have stood at the front door more than a few times wondering if I dare just wear them outside or not. I see the college girls wearing them and I'm secretly jealous. I'm supposed to be an "adult" now, so I should be past such "foolish" things. LOL But I love love love my jammie pants. And I don't see much difference between these and my sweat pants that are socially acceptable--except my jammies are cuter and I have more of them! LOL

  13. i am in jammies until i have to leave the house. and then, i end up in a ProSpirit jogging suit. I bought this little outfit in every color they had..red, light blue, gray, and black. It's kinda my uniform. I just figure when i am in public everyone thinks "oh, look at her, she just came from the gym! good for her!" yeah, the athletic look...that's my story and i am stickin to it! :)

  14. Great jammies! I'm a get-up-and-shower-then-dressed kinda gal, so no working in the PJs for me. My uniform of choice is a pair of Hanna Andersson cropped sweat pants and a random tee -- and my Restoration Hardware foot duvets.

It is 2:35pm and I am in my pajamas as I read your blog and write this. Pajamas are absolutely my favorite clothes and more than that - they are a state of mind. They say "Relax, sink down into your depth, do exactly what you want to do. The one's I have on today are black fleece with pink and red roses and white polka dots. I love them!

I'm with Amy Lu - I get out of my pjs only so the postman doesn't think (know) I'm a slacker. But then I get right back in 'em for the remainder of the day.

    It's all downhill after jimjams.

  21. I used to never get dressed, but I seemed to do better at staying focused on my work when I did get up and get dressed.

Plus, it kept me from embarrassing myself with the neighbors or the schoolteachers in the car rider line.

  22. I have p.j. envy!!!! And no, I don't get dressed if it's a stay-at-home day. I will shower, but no make-up, no hair-do, and a clean pair of p.j.'s goes right back on my fresh-as-a-daisy body. Heaven!!

  23. Hey Anna Maria,
To answer your question....no, I don't get dressed if I have no where to be! I LOVE those days!

Thank you so much for your sweet comment at my blog tonight! My girls will be thrilled when I show it to them. We all love your work!

  24. I love the pj's in the morning but then after a shower (just before lunch)I wear leggings, t-shirt and old jumper, that are my "home clothes" and whenever I come back from outside I have to wear my home outfit..I hate to stay at home with outside clothes!

  25. Pj's are part of the madatory dress code in my office...thankfully i work at home! lol

I wear my jammie jams for as long as I can. If I'm not going anywhere... forget about it. I'll even shower and put some fresh jammies on!
Tonight, I went to the grocery store in my pajama pants... have I gone to far?

  27. I have 2 jobs, both from home. I wear p.j.'s & sweats more than anything else. I completely understand the joy of showing off to the UPS man, the mailman, the neighbors etc that I am actually dressed on the days when that miracle does happen! Cheers to Jammies!

  28. I am still laughing at you post! :-D

I am sitting here in my terrycloth bath robe. Actually gone through the trouble of putting some socks on since the tiles are still freezing cold.

The only reason I get dressed on some days is because I have to walk my dog (ok or open up our PW-Shop) and I think that is the only downside to having a dog... no more all day PJ-Days ;-) Enjoy!

BTW my neighbors think I am weird because I rarely ever open the door when the door bell rings. I only open when I feel like having company and beeing disturbed.

  29. oh how I long to wear jammies all day :)

I'm another one of those get-out-of-bed-shower-and-dress girls. And do my hair, brush my teeth and put mascara on all before my first coffee. And that's just for a day of playing with my 2 year old and cleaning.

I'd be mortified if the delivery guy, or a friend or even my boyfriend came home to me in my jammies.

but I sure am jealous, it takes confidence and a strong desire for comfort :)

  30. Love your pops pjs. In answer to your question, no, I do not get dressed if I'm not going anywhere. Showering is also an option. T.M.I.?

  31. I absolutely get dressed everyday! I get up every morning, shower, and slap a little bit of makeup. The FedEx Express and Ground guys are really hot around here. The UPS guys are...well, they're very nice.
